Audio player loading… Last year Games Workshop celebrated Christmas with a limited-edition miniature of , and this year have followed up with another promotional oddity. The is a leather-clad ork with a guitar and a grenade for a microphone who looks like a cross between Lemmy from Motörhead and Slash from Guns n' Roses and has his own theme song to the tune of Jingle Bells called . (In reality it's credited to Jonathan Hartman, composer for Warhammer series like Angels of Death, Interrogator, and Hammer & Bolter.) The Goff Rocker is a cute reference to an obscure bit of Warhammer 40,000 from 1991, when the tabletop wargame's supplement 'Ere We Go: Orks in Warhammer 40,000 presented the rules for the Goffik Rok Band. This trio of orks carrying "Rok Guitars" were the Doof Warriors of their day, playing music to keep the army pumped-up on the march. Mechanically, they got orks within 12 inches on the tabletop so excited they could shoot twice a turn, though at -1 to hit thanks to their overenthusiasm. Back in the 1990s Games Workshop ran a record label called Warhammer Records, signing hard rock bands Wraith and D-Rok to record 40K-themed music. Prior to that the company worked with metal band Bolt Thrower, granting them a license to use 40K artwork for the cover of their album Realm of Chaos, and gave away a "flexi-disc" of thrash band Sabbat's song Blood for the Blood God with an issue of White Dwarf. for Goff Rocker's "Festive Tour M41" with special guest Sloppity Bilepiper, a reference to a daemonic Herald of Nurgle playing a grotesquely organic set of bagpipes who has appeared as a as well as a , and I'd absolutely listen to whatever music that thing produced. Games Basement Nabs Exclusive PDP Wii Headsets in UK

Games Basement Nabs Exclusive PDP Wii Headsets in UK Nintendo Life

Limited stock of Headbangers nationwide by Share: We've received numerous emails from worried Brits about the availability of PDP's upcoming Headbanger USB headset for Wii. Already available in North America, there's good news for gamers in the British Isles wanting to pick one up soon. The headset itself will only reach UK shores in very limited quantities, but we can reveal that retailer will have exclusive stocks available from next Tuesday, November 9th, to coincide with the launch of , which of course will support the headset for its online multiplayer modes. We understand other retailers won't begin to stock the headset until December, so this is a good opportunity to start trash-talking your opponents online without them firing back at you, with a range of pre-order options available. The , or . Nintendo Life readers can enter the promotional code ehkr57 for a £5 discount on the bundle, and you can't say fairer than that. [source ] Related Games Share: Comments ) What the, promo codes? NintendoLife is really moving up in the world eh? I'm interested in getting a headset but do wish it was wireless Eh, I'd rather get my Headset with Conduit 2.
Remember to include a promo code on here as well. Think this is cool, but it would be great if they had this for the DS with the Black Ops game! Yea i wouldnt be buying this headseat or the game most likely. But thanks for the coupon codes hopefully we will see more in the future. , don't you know wireless connection to your brain can lead to, huh, CANCER?!?!
Yes, robots get it too Great bit of detective work there Mr Newton, Professor Layton would be proud. Can't wait for this title to be released & great to see we don't need to wait in the UK until Dec/Jan for the PDP Headset No problem Sebastian... er... I mean Mapwii Forums ill get it for black ops lol ill be the idiot houting
"lol noobs" I'll wait for the one that comes with Conduit 2. Besides, this will only work with friends, won't it? the only way you can make me get it for the wii is if in black ops you can talk to random people other wise pointless. @9 and 10: Since Conduit 2 has been reported to allow talking to random people, I'm guessing this game will too. Although I don't get why people want to talk to random people online like that when you don't even know the people you are talking too at all unless you are playing against friends. I regret nothing about wireless devices near my head! Out in the US already? May pick it up for MH3 and Black Ops as long as it's compatible with all WiiSpeak games. If not, I just think the price will be to steep as most likely only a few games will support it. It isn't compatible with Wii Speak games, so it does not work with Monster Hunter 3, Endless Ocean, Animal Crossing etc. So far it's just Conduit 2 and Black Ops! I want one, any price on the US ones? And, are they out already, I think you did an article on that. 5 DAYS! It might be worth mentioning that the discount code can only be used when the bundle (headset + game) is purchased... what it doesnt work with all games that are already wii speak ready and working ? why would they make such a thing ? Why isn't this thing wireless? Major turn-off! @16 "Nintendo Life readers can enter the promotional code ehkr57 for a £5 discount on the bundle" Also, we should get someone to review the headbanger when it releases. @19 - the text was edited after my comment... call me when no strings are attached You're in the US anyway so why should it matter? : Does the promotional code work anymore? I clicked the link, but I didn't know where to enter it. Can you use the headbanger headset on the Mario Kart game? Nope, Mario Kart doesn't have any voice chat. Gamestation Registering Customer Interest in Project Café

Gamestation Registering Customer Interest in Project Café

Gamestation Registering Customer Interest in Project Café Nintendo Life

Jumping the gun? by Share: We're still over a month away from Nintendo's official reveal of its Wii successor, but that doesn't mean retailers aren't keen to get in there early and start securing customer interest. Several Nintendo Life readers have reported UK retail chain Gamestation has already started registering customer interest in the new console under the name Project Café, though there's no word if stablemate GAME is offering the same service. We're informed it's unlikely any information will be sent out to customers until after Nintendo's E3 presentation, and that this is not a deposit to secure a console, but even so it seems a little early in the day to start capturing customer data for a console we know nothing about. Thanks to the readers who submitted this tip. Share: Comments ) It's interesting because we don't even know for sure if it's codename is Project Café. Dang, that's really thinking ahead. I don't even live in the UK, but good on you, Gamestation! : It's kind of hard to doubt it with evidence from Nintendo's development site. Someone is eager! anyone know why nintendo life wa closed this morning
Maybe they were all meeting at a cafe. lol : Ant was doing some behind-the-scenes work on the servers. :3 I'm willing to bet this "Cafe" word going around is not the codename for the actual system. It's probably just something about their new approach to online gaming. @3 That evidence is not conclusive. I'm not saying I'd be surprised if it was called Project Cafe, but we have literally no official word about it besides "it's being made" (no duh; I can't believe people were even treating that like big news) and "we'll show you at E3." @11 Well, it's just a codename... Gamecube was codenamed Dolphin. It doesn't necessarily even have to mean anything to the general public. Hence the purpose of "codename." Cool
Awesome
Fun
Everyday no one has the right to ensure a gaming console that doesn't exist yet Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...

Games Do More Damage Than Passive Smoking says Doctor

Games Do More Damage Than Passive Smoking, says Doctor Nintendo Life

Excuse us while we smoke a Wii Remote by Share: Despite the best efforts of Nintendo to turn gaming into a healthy pastime, the potential link between poor health and video games will be mined for countless years to come, with one such study claiming the negative effect of video games are more widespread than first thought. Craig A. Anderson, PhD's article Violent Video Games: Myths, Facts, and Unanswered Questions was published in the American Psychology Association newsletter back in 2003 but is only just now gaining recognition from the gaming press, due to Anderson's use of his own studies as corroborating sources. The report attempts to answer a number of myths surrounding the health impact of video games, with one choice quote responding to the 'myth' that the "effects of violent video games are trivially small": Facts: Meta-analyses reveal that violent video game effect sizes are larger than the effect of second hand tobacco smoke on lung cancer, the effect of lead exposure to I.Q. scores in children, and calcium intake on bone mass. Furthermore, the fact that so many youths are exposed to such high levels of video game violence further increases the societal costs of this risk factor (Rosenthal, 1986) Anderson's claim that passive smoking has a less widespread impact on lung cancer patients than violent video games do on the general population isn't surprising, though it is grossly uneven in its weighting. For more nuggets of even-handed wisdom, you might want to read . Do you agree or disagree with Dr. Anderson's thoughts? [source ] Share: Comments ) I would think that people would prefer their kids venting whatever "urges" they had on video games rather than going out into the world and performing them for real, but okay. Where are my gaming patches then? If a violent videogame could make a person violent then He/She was already a little bit touched in the first place. How come no one blames movies but they are always going after videogames? Please don't tell me people actually listen to this "Doctor". I've never played an MA game so i dont really care Watch how all the gamers march in here and dismiss a psychologist's research. Because, like, they totally know better. Looking forward to seeing your own research papers, lads and ladettes. @4: I think movies went through the same thing back in the day, didn't it? It's whatever, games will unavoidably become as mainstream a form of entertainment as movies or books someday anyway, then hopefully there won't be as many people looking for controversy when it comes to games. Also, I actually agree that violent video games has an effect on kids growing up, I mean, it makes sense. However, that's where the PEGI ratings and stuff come in. If they think video games are so dangerous, they should take them seriously enough that they actually pay attention to the age ratings. Maybe even make it illegal to sell video games to people younger than what the rating recommends. That's how it is with movies, no? He's not actually saying video games are worse than smoking. He's saying video games are more likely to cause violent behavior than secondhand smoke is to cause cancer. In any case, who really cares? So we stop playing video games and start doing what? Playing sports? Yeah, those guys aren't violent. I agree with Sushi here...
Don't matter the argument nor how old the argument here.
I think they're missing the biggest factor: Parenting makes the biggest difference no matter which entertainment medium they're arguing against. As a child I, personally, had no interest in games until after I was 10 years old. I didn't even own a console until after then (although I had played a few arcade games). I wonder what has changed - it's not like games weren't around when I was a kid, but I couldn't have cared less about gaming. I agree that violent games have an impact. The problem occurs when kids are exposed to violent video games when they are too young to play them. Seeing a twelve year old kid with a gun fixation because his favourite game is Halo is a creepy, scary kind of feeling. Games are like movies and books; there are some they should never see untill they grow up. bullsh*t Well maybe we need to take a poll. We have enough people here who have played games from a young age that are adults who should show signs of chronic violent tendency from years of exposure. Hey Corbs. Are you violent or angry? The suggestion that video games cause low IQs seems to be at odds with my experience. I'd argue that the average person at a LAN or lining up at a console launch has a higher IQ than the general population. When I was at High School there were probably about three groups of people. Those who did well at Maths/Science, those who did well at the Arts/English and then those who... didn't do well. Those who did well at Arts/English GENERALLY seemed to spend most of their time either talking about their weekends and social random things or at the Library. Those who did well at nothing played sport or whatever they do. Those who were generally good at Maths/Science talked about games and tech in general. By this observation I'm going to come to the conclusion that Sport gives people a low IQ (equally as stupid but more accurate in my experience) Am I missing something or does that not say anywhere what videogames effect? Smoking effects Lung Cancer
Lead Exposure effects IQ Scores
Calcium Intake effects Bone Mass
Video Games effect ???????? So playing games stop children from drinking their milk? Huh, I never knew that... I got so mad after reading this article that I drove a flaming motorcycle into a fast food restaurant and watched as the fiery mayhem ensued. ...oh... EDIT: wait, this article is from 2003, and the most current citation on the bibliography is from 2002. I'm confused. Based on Kid_A response, I retract my statement my statement of polling the local populace. Thank you. : Well if they're more interested in playing video games than drinking milk... Of course Skotski makes a very good point. Parenting has a very important role in all this. . Anderson is extremely biased when it comes to this research. He has been on a crusade against video games for a decade. For a rebuttal to pretty much everything he says, you should check Christopher Ferguson. Craig Anderson is a joke who uses methodologically questionable studies as part of these Meta Analyses.
Don't take this news story as anything more than a joke. Oh wow, I misread that completely. I thought they were saying that Video games caused low IQs and low calcium. Oops!! This is silly...violence is obviously the larger issue in this long-debated subject, so let's look into it.
I have a feeling these violent video-games tend to lean toward the T an especially M rated titles. Now let's talk about parenthood!
What do these rating on the little boxes mean parents? Hmm?
To bluntly evaulate the ignorance, the rating are pretty much similar to movies. Now you wouldn't want a child watching R rated movies and such...right? Right.
Mentor your child's habits of video game purchasing untill they get up into the T, and keep on going till they are mature enough to get into the M rated titles, yes that means waiting till they are 16/17. Let's try this, and do the test again. I like to believe that it's all about the magical age when kids learn to seperate fiction from real life! That happens at different ages for different individuals, but when kids stop playing with their imagination they are usually about 12. That's when they know that doing things in games is ok, but doing them in real life is dangerous and bad. It doesn't matter if you feed them Pokémon or Ninja Gaiden, they're still going to try to recreate the characters actions in real life! And hitting someone else with a stick is going to be the same, regardless if it was inspired by Ryu's sword or Marowak's bone club! Letting kids play games where you shoot each other is probably safer, since the recreation of that doesn't actually involve hitting each other! It's all done with aiming guns and making noises... Assuming you don't give them bb guns. But then you're just a bad parent, considering how that's dangerous, games or no games! There are nutters in all walks of life, unfortunately this can include doctors. Thankfully this is only a tiny fraction of 1%. Any sane doctor would of course say that passive smoking is massively more damaging than playing a video game. I was watching gory violent movies since I was 5 years old and I didn't turn into a murdering psychopath. Why would videogames be more damaging than movies or cigarettes for that matter? Besides smoking gives you cancer. Has anyone ever got cancer from playing a videogame? @26. Agreed. Like for example as an uncle of many little ones, I have one who especially likes me. I'm like his idol, no idea why. But he will try to do things that I do, like walk, eat, laugh the way I do, shoot up a school or seal clubbing on weekends...(kidding) But they do try to recreate some of the cool things they see in games, especially dialogue, that's one of the major things they will pick up and start using. Of course this is why you let your children play games that are appropriate to their age level, but again this is obvious. You have to let the child's imagination run wild though, but as a parent you also have to look into the games you're buying your child as well. Like for movies, you have to make sure all the content is safe for him/her, and if you have to, be extra cautious, but not to the point where you are feeding your child education videos on a regular basis. Talk about boring. Having fun and being free, of course in a safe environment, and running around like a Power Ranger is part of being a kid, it's just up to whoever delivers these forms of entertainment I.E parents, to make sure that they don't steer in an undesired direction. @28:
I think I developed palm cancer for that mini game in the first Mario Party where you spin the control stick like a mad man. @26: Actually, it does matter whether you give them Pokemon or Ninja Gaiden. Luckily, I only got Pokemon and the closest thing to a bone club is a stick, so no one got hurt that much. However, the closest thing to a katana is the antique sword down in our basement, so if I had gotten Ninja Gaiden when I was a kid, someone could've gotten seriously hurt. D: D: Madworld is still worth it! That pseudo doctor Mister Anderson is linking passive cigarette smoking to violent video games. Aha! Now where's the context pls? He's just stating the obvious: Too much addiction to one thing is unhealthy. And kids shouldn't smoke nor playing violent games. Yeah. So where's the news, old boy? How come people give such things the time of day again and again? On a side-note, why exactly are we reporting on documents written over seven years ago? Did Young James discover the Temple of Time and jump into the future?
Also starring Corbie as Ganondorf, and theblackdragon as Sheik I think saying violent video games are harmful is true to an extent. If a very young kid like under 14 plays super violent games, it could potentially screw them up. For example, this kid who is like 9 walked up to my garage sale last year and started thumbing though the couple games I had out. So my dad walked up to him and asked him what kind of games he liked. His response: "violent games" o_O That's just a bit scary. Then my dad asked him if he liked Mario. The kid said no and my dad asked why. The kid's response: "It doesn't have any guns." Clearly this was a child who was exposed to violent video games far too early in his life and he is potentially damaged because of it. So what this doctor says seems true to a point although, the biggest issue here are the parents. None of this would be a problem if parents would just parent their damn kids! There is your issue, the parents. Not violent games or movies. They're doing their job by blatantly putting up ratings that outline who should and should not be exposed to it. Now its the parents job to not buy their 9 year old a game meant for folks 18 and up! I'm sick of people jumping down the throat of the game industry. Are they not to make mature games because kids might play them? No! Its not like they try and hide it. If a game is meant for a mature audience, there is a nice box right on the cover with a big "M" on it. Plus stores can't sell such games to minors. What more can game makers do?? Stop blaming them and start blaming the parenting of today! There are some things that bother me about Mr. Andersons's article.
1) He doesn't define violent games more clearly, nor does he mention differences in psychological effect between violent and non-violent games. Neither does he give closer definitions of the "ultraviolent" videogames, and how they in turn differ from merely violent ones. This makes his observations arbitrary and hard to verify, thus scientifically quite useless.
2) In an article concerned with video game violence, the sentence "Some include cut scenes (i.e., brief movie clips supposedly designed to move the story forward) of strippers" is beside the point, since no connection with the violence in video games and real life is established. It rather suggests he is writing for groups with certain political views, instead of a professional audience.
3) Almost all of the references he gives are his own works (Anderson, C.A). The only two articles not co-written by himself is one written by two of his previous partners (so no new sources) and another one from 1986, from a time when video games were not yet very advanced (specially not for the ultraviolent games from the 1990s). In other words, he merely restates his own frequently articulated beliefs and sells them as new. But merely repeating yourself is not research and definitely not science.
All in all, this sounds like sensationalistic pseudo-science, rather than genuine research.
(Please note my incredibly violent and aggressive tone after playing DOA: Dimensions) @ WaltzElf: You don't need a degree to spot shoddy research and flawed reasoning. The ability to read and think are quite often sufficient. @29
My most recent experience with violent children was about a year ago, but that was an intensive one. Kids (only the boys though) were hurting each other all the time! Their biggest inspiration? Star Wars: The Clone Wars...Which is rated 7+ in most countries, I believe. One of them told me that he had played GTA, too. Yet it was fighting with sticks that was cool, not pretending to rob and shoot people! xD I agree that parental supervision is the best thing for the kids! There's nothing as effective to stop violent play as an adult stepping in.
@30
I think it's about peer pressure - It's the things that are hot among kids that they're going to imitate. Not the thing that is the most violent! I had friends who played Counter Strike, for crying out loud! Yet I never played it, in real life or in game. I remember playing with sticks, mostly. Ah, finding a perfect one was sooo rewarding... As for real swords, I still want one... Slicing veggies could become a real hobby! I'd blame video games for all the world's problems too, if it would get my medical practice some massive attention. : Very well put sir! YOU CANT EVER COMPARE ANYTHING TO SMOKING AND LUNG CANCER!
THIS GUY IS A ****** BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a Clinical Psychology PhD student and am also, like 97% of young people (Pew Research Center), a video game player. I did a presentation on this issue and was astounded by Anderson's bias and shoddy research. Some of the important things that I found were: The main finding of Anderson et al.’s (2010) meta-analysis had an effect of r = .15. This small effect size is smaller than the effect size of many other predictors of aggression and crime. For example, the accepted effect sizes of the relationship between aggressive personality and violent crime is .25, and that of poverty on crime is .25 as well. Ferguson and Kilburn (2010) cite other research that purports that when other risk factors, such as depression, peers and family are controlled, the effect sizes of violent video games are decreased almost to nothing. Finally, Anderson's results can be questioned from a real-world perspective. In contrast to the predictions that one would make as a result of the meta-analysis cited in Anderson et al, (2010), as violent video games have become increasingly popular, violent crime rates among young people, according to reports from the US Governments’ website, childstats.gov (2008), have dropped to their lowest rate in four decades. In contrast there have been studies that have found that Video Games DO NOT lead to violence. A longitudinal study regarding the effects of video game violence was done by Williams and Skoric (2005). 213 individuals played a violent video game for at least five hours a week for a month. The results of the study really demonstrated the incomplete picture given by bivariate correlations in video game violence research. While violent video games were associated with both aggressive beliefs and interactions, this significant association disappeared when controlling for trait aggression, age, and time one aggression scores in a controlled regression study. There is plenty of research to contrary of what Anderson concludes. Unfortunately, Anderson is extremely vocal in his position and is constantly in front of judges arguing against video games. With the upcoming supreme court case, we need to be careful about letting Anderson control the debate. @41 I agree with you, he is a "bag," but he is being taken out of context. He isn't saying that video games compare to cancer. He is saying that the effect sizes (a statistic about how strong a relationship is) is similar from video games to aggression and smoking to cancer. But I agree, he's a jerk.
Those are my thoughts exactly.
If some doctor wrights up some article that DARES to say video games can be unhealthy for people, gamers immediately start butt-hurting without even reading the dang thing!
Thank God this isn't Destructoid. I think i speak for everyone. We don't give a ****! :-0 These things are all too common, we get the picture already. And this is my excuse to call all young people dumb, get off my lawn! @ 44: Just out of curiosity: Have YOU read the dang thing? @ 42: Thank you for actually checking the facts for us. @ 4. Link79 Before parents/people were blaming video games for why their kids aren't to their liking, they were blaming comic books (the new popular pastime older people didn't understand or want to for that matter). Before that, I'm sure it was something else. Whatever the case, it's NEVER because parents did anything wrong in the child raising process, it's always "some evil force they couldn't control". If it wasn't for that, my kids would be perfect. As another example of parents blaming something else for their kids not being to their liking. Lets not forget the organizations that are currently demanding McDonald's stop advertising because it's one of the leading causes as to why so many American kids are obese (so they claim). You know, it's not because of the parents who bring their kids to McDonald's all the time because they don't want to hear their kids complain (or want to eat their themselves) nor is it the fault of parents that don't control what their kids eat and make sure they exercise. It's the fault of McDonald's for advertising. If they didn't do that their kids would surely be thin and in shape! @ Burningn Spear - best summary I've heard. Kids too violent? get them off the couch and outside. Maybe a game of rugby? Perhaps some boxing for the little tykes? Lol who cars what Dr stupid says? hey we are gamers we eat only fast food and drink coke so this alleready says we don't care about our health and by the way preffer a few years less of lifetime than a stupid life without games
At the time of writing my last comment, I did not, I have now read the article, but from what I wrote in my last comment, it didn't matter whether I had read the article or not.
My point was that people should read the doctor's article before dismissing him as a " ****** BAG!!!!!!!!...", not "there is good info in that article! Shut up!".
You (and a few others) read the article, you have the right to say whatever you want about it.
Others did not read the article. They need to keep quiet about it. I half agree with him. Though I doubt violent games are worse for people's health than second-hand smoke, I do think violent video games have ill effects on kids. If you disagree with that you should try playing some Call of Duty online on the Xbox; the many, many kids that play there make my case for me (they're not exactly agreeable). That said, it would be difficult to gauge how much responsibility gaming should take for their behavior, especially when so many media outlets can be just as bad or worse, not to mention the incompetence of the parents in raising their kids. Personally, I think it would be better for no kid under 15 to pick up any M game, and I think some M games should be rated higher (maybe double M?) and kept away from anyone under 18 (comparing the violence in Gears of War with the violence in Call of Duty would lead one to believe they are on different levels altogether, but for some reason the ESRB disagrees). BTW, is it true that in some countries in Europe it's illegal to give a minor an M game? I heard something like that somewhere, but I have no idea how true it is. @ 52: I didn't want to shut you up or insult you, I really was merely curious
I agree with your general sentiment (read something before you comment), but I feel I need to correct you on one point: Everyone has the right to voice his opinion on such an article, whether he's read it or not (that's what free speech is all about). Whether we attribute any sort of value to their opinion, though, that is up to us. : ... so you're saying that it's only okay to not read the article and yet leave a comment anyway so long as you're convinced a real, live doctor was involved at some point in time, and he had things to say that were supposedly (after all, you hadn't bothered to read the article yourself to make sure) quoted in the aforementioned article? good to know, lol. Gah, dragon, that sentence made my head spin a little :S
I'm glad to hear that you weren't angry, sorry for the cold response.

To simplify my last two comments, I have this to say: one part of an article isn't sufficient for a judgement of the entire thing.
Complaining because people whine about something is another case all together.
I complained about the comments, not the doctor's article.
The comments that I complained about were aimed at the doctor's article, they were about the NL article.
"That is all. By your leave, I will excuse myself."-Soren Gotta love how all are tax payer money is going to this type of research instead of creating jobs. You know, they just made this really cool thing. It's called ESRB! But it dosen't matter since nobody follows the guidelines and you could find 10-year olds playing M-rated games. They also have another new thing, yeah it's called parenting. Massively misleading headline. The key phrase is 'Meta-analyses reveal that violent video game EFFECT SIZES are larger than the effect of second hand tobacco smoke on lung cancer, the effect of lead exposure to I.Q. scores in children, and calcium intake on bone mass. '
Effect size of a measure of the strength between two variables in a study.
It's NOT saying 'games are worse for you than smoking' it's saying 'there's quite a strong corealation between findings and theory'. @ 59 yeah at some point you got to admit its the parents who have control. My parents never bought me any M rated games when I was little. @2&variousothers exactly. this is not the game industry's fault the average target audience is actually 25-35 year olds. If you're not even gonna look at what they play, you might as well just drop them in a room a stack of Final Destination movies, happy tree friends season and a single copy of Watchmen. I agree that M rated games (and T rated games for younger children) have a negative influence on mental health, although whether or not it's a bigger effect than second-hand smoke on physical health is up for debate. I'm 26, and I still refuse to play M rated games. It's one of the reasons I prefer Nintendo's consoles. Most M rated games could be edited into a T rated version without affecting the core of the game, anyway. yea what eemarvel said This why I don; play many M rated games except Battlefield and Call of Duty. I don't like Grand Theft Auto. I mainly play E-T since that what Nintendo Console and Handheld are. Well, when I play M rated games,i remember it's just a game, and not to let it go to my head.I'm still a genius in my class,so i guess my IQ hasnt dipped Video games don't make me angry. People do. Been exposed to so many people, that my blood pressure sky rockets some times because of how irritating people can be. Is that the video games talking? (post 42)
I'm glad we could hear from someone that has done some research of his own on the topic. .(post 53)
That's really more of an issue of the anonymity of the internet. A**holes are easy find online regardless of what they're playing or doing. That picture always freaked me out. I guess I do have a phobia of holes! @68 ...Hm, sounds dirty lol Why is he comparing two completely different things? Let me just quote the best thing Adam Sessler has ever said, which is my main reaction to anything like this: "You know, it's kind of preposterous and really disturbing and intellectually dishonest and somewhat pernicious to try to say that with all the other ills in the world. We have kids getting absolutely poor education in public schools, where they're not getting good medical care given to our health care system, and with the fact that people can't seem to get a decent job, what is the problem with America's youth in schools? Oh, it has to be a video game! Anyone with thought should find that insulting at the face of it." I found Mad World instructional. @ Gamesake
Yeah Madworld taught me one thing for sure. If some guy comes up to you with an attitude just Impale his ass on a signpost! Okay, story time. I myself, have been gaming since a little after I could walk properly. Picture a two year old holding a Playstation controller or a game boy color and that was me. Now, I will admit I played Teen-Rated games WELL UNDER the age limit for the games, but as long as I was young I didn't really know or care and the blood/violence didn't affect me at all. I didn't play M-rated games until I was at least 10 though I've never been negatively affected by a violent video game in my life, due to being a sensible, fun-loving person. After all, video games aren't a drug, they're an ANTI-drug. Yes, I did just make that dumb joke Second hand smoke doesn't cause lung cancer (unless you were already on your way to developing it), so the effects of violent video games could be anywhere from very minimal to severe be more precise doctor! I honestly think they do in terms of behavior and I.Q. scores, but not to a damaging or unhealthy degree. If games are that dangerous, gaming on a cell phone must be even more so. You will turn violent and get finger cancer from the radiation all at the same time. Bull.
CRAP. More living people have been effected by violent video games than dying. VIDEO GAMES ARE WORSE THAN DEATH ITSELF! Does anyone else smell VGPA, Video Game Players Anonomous? Denial is the first step after all. XD we don't need to do research to know he's wrong what the heck. it`s a bit like saying kids are going to be cruel to animals because they`ve watched tom and jerry cartoons.
obviously, i won`t give younger children games that are pretty graphic like the resident evil series or HotD overkill.
but then, playing duck hunt never made me want to shoot real life ducks, or anything else for that matter. and playing super mario has never made me want headbutt bricks and throw fire balls either.
tbh, kids are actually far smatter than most adults will give them credit for, any kid will understand the difference between right and wrong, fantasy from reality if they are taught these things. it`s the parents that need stop the stupidity of worrying over trivial things.
besides, if you`re a perant stupid enough not to teach you child how to behave, and willingly give them things they shouldn`t have. how on earth do you expect them to grow up and not be disrepectfull, unruly, or violent. bad parenting tends to lead to bad behaviour in children, not playing video games. Quote, we need your help! The Doctor came back from the dead! Grab your gun; we need to kill that son of a... And this is news... how? People will teabag video games until they are no more. Also I grew up with Zelda, stabbing stuff with a sword in a game, but I didn't reinact it or start loving violence. There's a fine line between killing a pixelated dude on a screen and killing a dude walking down the road. Also if people are that worried, look at the PEGI/ESRB rating and learn to be a proper parent. i'm pretty sure they are talking about black ops and the other M rated games for the ps3/xbox360 because little kids play those games a lot more than little kids play mario Well that fact is worded oddly. I thought they were saying playing video games was giving me lung cancer and affecting my bone growth. o___O Wow that's a lot of cigs that dude is lighting up...and this "research" makes no sense. "Furthermore, the fact that so many youths are exposed to such high levels of video game violence further increases the societal costs of this risk factor (Rosenthal, 1986)"
Since when were games from 1986 so violent that they affected people?
How many people play Call of Duty?: Millions
How many of those people commited murder influenced by COD?: 0 BTW, I think the Mythbusters should take a whack at this myth. Because video games are worse than potential lung cancer. Look, of course violent video games can have an effect on kids, but no more of an effect than violent movies, books or any other media that portrays violence can. People need to stop being lazy and blame video games for society's problems, instead they should actually take proper action to deal with the issue itself. It's like the same thing happens every time some new medium becomes popular with the current generations youth, older people don't necessarily understand it so they try to create something negative out of it. Video games are just the scapegoat of today's day and age. And just because this guy has a PhD doesn't mean that he can't be wrong on the subject matter he's supposedly researched. If kids play games that are not age appropriate ; and play them often without doing other things kids should do - of course it'll effect them!. I'm an healthcare professional and read research papers as part of my job. The study, as indictaed byb the PhD student NL member (no.41) here is very flawed. How can you quatifiably comapre video gaming EXACTLY to passive smoking anyway? There's too many anomalies. If played as part of wide range of activities, if time limited and age appropriate, I've observed that it is BENEFICIAL to children. Especially Nintendo;s, social gaming... o?o that guy probably just cut 15 years off his life smoking all those cigarettes. How much second-hand tobacco are we talking about? I see a little bit of where the doctors comin from. I don't think its harmless to let a 5 year old play things like grand theft auto, but to say that all video games are a health risk, or at least as much so as tobacco second hand smoke, is rediculous. I've been playing video games since i was 5, and i have never thought of it as OK to kill someone, nor am i overweight and at risk of heart problems, etc. Videogames are not one of the bigger problems. Video games are only a problem when they get into the hands of audiences that are just too young both in age and mentality for the content. Thats why theres the ESRB ratings. Yeah, and I think red is prettier than a car. If you want to have a serious discussion about this, they better start making comparisons that make sense instead of making them sound sensational. Don't get me wrong, I understand the comparison he's making, but what's the point here? Undoubtedly the ties between people who own a car and people who interested in owning a car are extremely strong. What does that tell us? Let me put it bluntly: a lot of young boys are interested in violence one way or another (take a slightly more abstract view if you will), so is it really all that surprising that those kids also play "violent" games, and at the same time display "violent" behaviour? Not to me. Studies have also shown that playing video games have had a very positive effect on children's ability to solve problems. Does that mean all games are positive for children? No. If there's one thing I'm sick and tired of, it's approaching sociological problems with statistics, just so you can catch a headline or two. And while I know that it's just a stupid comparison he's making here, it's worth pointing out of course that cancer isn't the only reason you should smoke. There are many more negative side-effects to smoking, so the cancer comparison isn't a good one, since it doesn't show a good "use vs. damage caused" relation. Yeah, ever since I've played Mario, I've had the urge to jump on people's heads. /sarcasm Seriously, not all games are damaging, it's more of an effect of violent games on children. Whatever they see normally in their early days has an impact on what they think is normal. No kid should think maiming people is normal. Really, those kids need to stick to E rated games. I'm surprised at how many 5-year-olds play COD... GameStop Will Accept Trade Ins on RE Mercenaries 3D

GameStop Will Accept Trade Ins on RE Mercenaries 3D

GameStop Will Accept Trade-Ins on RE: Mercenaries 3D Nintendo Life

Business as usual by Share: The news that sparked a frenzy worldwide, with rental companies and retailers working out the impact it'll have on their businesses. Major games retailer GameStop made the bold decision not to trade the game in from customers, but has now changed its corporate mind and will accept trade-ins from today. Although it's not clear what led to the change of heart — other than the sizeable margins on the sale of pre-owned goods, of course — a company spokesperson had this to say: GameStop did ask the U.S. store base to stop accepting trades on Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D as we evaluated the save system for the game. Upon further review of the process with our publisher partner, Capcom, GameStop will resume taking trades on the game effective Wednesday, June 29. Capcom has been keen to stress that this move was not intended to combat pre-owned sales — for which the original publisher sees no revenue, of course — but we'd be surprised if the publisher was doing cartwheels at the announcement its game will be sold second-hand after all. [source ] Related Games Share: Comments ) Trade-in value will probably be $1 but then again that is approximately the amount that GameStop usually gives.
Or more than likely: MANY people have no idea about this non-deletable-save-file fiasco.
Have you hung around a GameStop for a long amount of time? If you ever thought their typical employees no nothing about games other than what's on their computers, you should see the customers... most of them ask the most ridiculous questions... So... What was the reason Capcom was doing this in the first place again? The game has been removed from the Australian EBgames website. im guessing theyll just STEAL MY IDEA (nerd rage) and just corrupt the save file by taking out the game card while it saves making all the data get reset, the moment after it gets traded in. can get my copy friday morn not much money at mo but will put this one on the keeper shelf does anyone know if its just friends list for online coop or can you randomly search for players? Well, can you still play through the game from the beginning even with the save data? If so, not too big of a deal. I had no idea a single 3DS game release could have so much impact. Is it the suffering library of the system that causes this big backlash? Nah, it's the absurd design choice of the dev. One might ask "why does this matter?", but with 99% of other games with delete-able files, most are asking "why ISN'T this possible?" Has anyone managed to TEST your idea yet? It is pretty funny if it works... Apparently Capcom didn't use the same tacit they did with SSFIV 3D, where we can save our progress on the SD card!
I think they shot themselves in the foot with this one. I like how there's a massive market in the PC community that buys accounts for games so they don't have to level...granted, having the option would be nice, but I'm guessing there are some gamers out there that wouldn't mind buying a game with a bunch of stuff unlocked already. I'm not one of them...but then again, I buy new in 95% of cases. Having a game not be able to delete saved data is like having curtains on the Titanic. What's the point? Yay for Gamestop! Maybe next time, Capcom will think twice about not being able to delete save game data on there games. What about having an official way (device) to delete the savedata? youtube watch?v=wTtrDUrbikQ i reset my save data this also proves a delete option was coded into the game as once i corrupted the data on my pc it says in game "do you want to delete save data and start a new game" Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
Related Articles
Don't Leaf me this way "Thank you for using our service" Title: System: Publisher: Developer: Genre: Action, Shooter Players: 2 Release Date: 3DS Where to buy:
Related

Gamestop Offers BIT TRIP SAGA Preorder Bonus

Gamestop Offers BIT TRIP SAGA Preorder Bonus

Gamestop Offers BIT.TRIP SAGA Preorder Bonus Nintendo Life

Preorder online and get a free soundtrack by Share: If you're one of those gamers who were disappointed to find out that wouldn't come with the soundtrack sampler that its Wii counterpart is being packaged with, Gamestop has an offer for you. Gamers who preorder through will receive a free soundtrack sampler. This is the same soundtrack that will come packaged with , only this one comes inside of a really cool CommanderVideo sleeve. It's definitely something to consider for those planning to pick up the game. We'll keep you updated on any new developments regarding these two games as their September 13th North American release date rapidly approaches. Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our for more information. [source ] Share: Comments ) I cant find it on the german gamestop site. :/ Just wanted to say "i hope this comes to Europe too".
Having bonuses makes picking up ports / remakes so much easier. Meh. What if I just want the soundtrack? A bit absurd that a game known for its music, ported to a system that has a music player and an earphone jack, cannot get the soundtrack out of the box. And don't go telling me it wouldn't fit in the 3DS card. Must...pre-order...NAO!! This soundtrack, like the game, is simply stunning. I wouldn't be interested if it was some stupid virtual soundtrack. If something has a virtual bonus it might as well have no bonus at all. I wasn't even planning to get this right on launch but since it is a physical item that stands a good chance of becoming collectible, I'll just have to scrape the moneys together Bit-Triiiiiiiiiip. Is there any word of a PAL release for this and COMPLETE? I'm keen to get my hands on them, but couldn't find any recent information. I think I'm gonna buy both versions even though I already own them all on my wii. This series and cave story are the only Wiiware games I will miss when I get my WiiU and if we can't transfer them I will have another way to play them. I didn't wanna pre-order this, but you give me no other option, Gaijin. Wait, where does it say CV sleeve? Is there a picture of it anywhere? Also, why no pick-up in store? Also, does anyone know a way to get free shipping. Since I'm getting COMPLETE eventually, I might hold off, actually... time to preorder! I don't even know what Bit Trip really is. : snag yourself one of the demos and educate yourself, man. :3 Such a heinous crime. This had better come to the UK. I need me moar official BIT.TRIP merch! D: I hope we get this in Canada too. I just might consider going for it rather than triple tripping. Great idea, but the day that I actually receive the promised pre-order bonus from Gamestop is the day I instantly drop dead of a heart attack. :/ I never pre-order games, since a while after they're released, I buy them from another store where the games are cheaper.
Kinda sad that I'll miss some stuff, though... :/ I wish this also had the bonus content from the wii one the only bit trip i liked was runner, which i already have, so, i think i'll pass on this one. I'm shocked with all the reserves we do, we can't even offer this to guests in store. BIT.TRIP is an amazing series and the music and gamesplay never cease to amaze me. Definitely getting this. AWESOME edit: just realized it's US only. Poop. What exactly does it mean by "Sampler"? Like it's giving us 10 seconds of each song? All I was told was that the sampler that comes in this preorder bonus is the same soundtrack that comes with BIT.TRIP COMPLETE. Now what all that entails, I have no idea. : (11.): I guess they don't expect it to sell well. So it's most likely too expensive to have it in store (too). Curses, my plans to save money have been foiled again! It has 18 songs, so I'm guessing the 18 main ones that play during each level of each game. No chiptune guest-star stuff though (i.e. no Anamanaguchi, just stuff by Petrified Productions, the BIT.TRIP composers). Yup that confirms it, GameStop is lame. So I'm actually pre-ordering this, but not from GameStop. Pre-ordered! Gamescom Shinobi Shots are Certainly Stylish

Gamescom Shinobi Shots are Certainly Stylish

Gamescom Shinobi Shots are Certainly Stylish Nintendo Life

Living up to the name? by Share: A lot has been written about Griptonite Games' forthcoming attempt to resurrect the classic SEGA franchise for 3DS. Not everyone is on board with the game's graphical direction, but it's certainly looking stylish in these new screenshots below. The game — which is — is the first Musashi outing in eight years, so a lot is riding on SEGA and Griptonite to bring the Shinobi name back to its glory days. We'll see how the title fares in November. Related Games Share: Comments ) I'm hoping to buy this for Christmas. I like the stylized artistic flare this game has. I don't know why people are complaining about the graphics. They look fine to me. Besides, the 3DS can't hold anything like HD anyways. It's not the looks that bother me, it's that it looks like something you'd put on DSiWare. I think I'll give this a miss, but if the reviews come in at around the 80-90mark, I might reconsider. The graphics look very inconsistent. Hopefully it'll look better at release.
The 3ds can handle much more complex polygons and texture, HD isn't everything. I'm looking forward to the game, but I'm hoping that the graphics in the blander portions of the game will be shined up a bit... what looks like caves in the caption looks a little "too" bland to me. Still on the fence about this, maybe they should of stuck to sprites? I'm not sold on this one yet either. I hope that it turns out to be good. I'll probably just wait until I read some reviews on it first. Me either. Most likely will turn out decent. Yeah, the screenshots have a quite unique style that makes me hope this game will at least be a 7 / 10. If so this could be a day one buy for me. Becomes more likely the better the game gets of course. im gonna buck the strange trend and whole heartedly say i cant wait for this one Am I the only one who thought "Arceus?" when looking at the guy on the left? It's like they knew I was going to preorder. o-o Can't wait to proudly sport this on my backpack =D Will we be getting this if we preordered the game before this was announced? Pretty sure this is a stupid question but I just want to be 100% sure. You're better off asking your local GameStop really great thing about the build up for this game: so many avatar choices Well that pretty much confirms a Gamestop pre-order for me since I'm a key-chain collector. Though, if GAME does this too I'll pre-order it there. I'd really consider a preorder if they did the same thing here. Still a matter of how good the keychain really looks and if the game is much cheaper somewhere else. A key-chain.... Yay Yes I definitely want this Divine Keychain to hang in my room! GameStop offering a Tanooki Mario keychain = The Snake offering Eve a nice juicy apple. GameStop is the devil! Stay away foul temptress! (holds up crucifix dramatically) This is great news! I will be heading to Gamestop ASAP to plop down my reserves for MK 7 and Mario 3D Land : Gamestop's not the devil! Speaking of apples, I haven't had a good Caramel Appletini from AppleBees in a while. Should I take out my fiance, or my new copy of Mario 3D Land 3DS? Now that's a temptation, LOL!
the answer to that always seems to be yes i checked the U.K gamestop site and you can pre-order super mario 3DS for £29.97, but sadly, they don't seem to have the keychains. shame really for us brits. the keychain must look pretty cool though. Its seems like Gamestop is really going the extra mile to get pre-orders on this game. Not only are they doing this, but offering double reward points for all members who pay off their pre-order by Oct. 16. Not MY gamestop I was eventually going to pre-order Mario 3D Land at GameStop anyway now I will make sure to pre-order the game the next time I go to GameStop. Oh that is cool! Sweet! My copy's been pre-ordered for like three weeks now. Does EB Games Canada count? Bleh! Mario and Zelda within one week of each other? yes this will go perfect next to my Palkia key chain Well I know where I am pre-ordering my copy from! I must have it...but I don't have 3DS The picture is up now.
I've had issues with GS preorders before, but I can't go wrong with this /me preorders Zelda and 3D Land Finally I get something for preordering a Nintendo game! Whoo hoo! The last thing I got was the Metroid Other M Art Folio which is still displayed on my entertainment center. I want to see an actual picture of the keychain instead of a picture of Tanooki Mario with a metal ring pasted on top. Going to be heading to Gamestop on the 3rd to pre-order this! Me wants my own tanooki suit! Nice and warm for cold weather coming up! And I can turn to stone, so undesirables like work bosses will pass me without even noticing I'm there! If it's just a flat one i'd prefer a sticker set since i only display these things at home. Still doubt that we'll get any preorder bonus in Germany though. I pre-ordered Super Mario 3D Land back in March. I just hope that I can get one of these. This is totally WICKED! I'm ready to go pre-order now! Wow! GameStop Starts Selling eShop Download Codes

GameStop Starts Selling eShop Download Codes

GameStop Starts Selling eShop Download Codes Nintendo Life

Lots in store by Share: Want to download or but don't want to type your credit card details into the 3DS? GameStop has started selling DLC codes for both games through its website and stores. lets you purchase a digital redeem code for either game at exactly the same price it'd cost you through the eShop itself. The codes are only available in the United States at present — sorry, Canada — but hopefully if it takes off we'll see the scheme rolled out elsewhere. This isn't the first time you've been able to buy a digital Nintendo game through the web — the offers a paltry selection of WiiWare and Virtual Console games — but hopefully it's the start of a bigger push on Nintendo's part to get its downloadable offerings out there. Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our for more information. Related Games Share: Comments ) That's handy. Only those two games though? "sorry, Canada" Dammit! >=O
ehh.... just a matter of time before we get them anyway
And also, I approve of this idea Gamestop's probably testing out the approach. Hopefully, it'll be popular and successful so that more people are aware of the eShop. Then more developers can hop aboard the eShop train! Well that sucks, hold on.... Gamestop should sell retail download codes. As far as I know, I've got one of our US guys investigating though Definitely a step in the right direction for Nintendo to sell digital games in stores. More of this for 3DS and Wii U, please! sounds good! i like that better than putting a $20 card on it and having money lay around on the eshop. It' just those 2 games right now, their under "DLC" under the 3DS section. I hope Nintendo expands this to other stores and ALL of the eShop games. AAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man I wish could bought some but I live in Canada Hmm, sounds interesting. Definitely a better deal than buying a $20 card just for one game. Cool. I wish they sold physical cards in the store, though, like they do for XBLA and PSN. Makes for a good wrappable present. "GameStop has started selling DLC codes for both games through its website and stores" So you can also get it at retail? If so, that's very good!! I mean, over here you can also get 15 Euro e-shop cards. But sometimes you just want to download a 5 or 3 Euro game! No more left-overs!!! actually, my GameStop i usually go to not only had those two games out on display for purchase (in the form of DLC codes), they also had 3D Classics: Kid Icarus on display. This was the Sunday before last, and when I asked the sales clerk about it, he tried to scan it and it wouldn't ring up in his register, but it makes me think that it'll be available for purchase too once KI:U finally hits. We'll see, i guess :3 , they do. At least my Gamestop does. The 3DS download cards are in the same section as the XBLA, PSN, Wii, and DSi ones. I went to Gamestop today and they had some DS cases saying eshop DLC on them, and they had Pushmo, Super Mario Land 2, and 3D Classics Kid Icarus.(Not so sure about the last one.) I already had Pushmo and SML2, and I preordered Kid Icarus Uprising, but I'm pretty sure they sell these in store. I don't have Pushmo yet, this might be a good time to buy it. I was at my Gamestop and they already had boxes up for Download codes of 3D Classics: Kid Icarus. I asked the Gamestop Employee about it and he said that his boss told him to put them up even when the employee reminded him that the game didn't come out until Mar. 23rd. lol XD I saw these the other night at Gamestop. It's a good strategy to sell more games imo. They should sell codes for every 3DS/eshop exclusive title (no DSIware though). What Gamestop needs is refillable eShop cards. It's so practical, why haven't they already done it? ....
.... Guess I answered my own question. Just order SML2 via 4000ish power-up reward points. Got the coupon code, but looks like to only way to redeem it is by heading to my local GS. Would have been nice to be able to get everything I needed from their site. Baby steps i guess. SML2 and PUSHMO are available on Powerup Rewards. But they go foe 4490 and 7490 points, so you're probably better off saving up for those Swagtastic Star Fox Dog Tags. This is quite unexpected news and pretty cool. Already have them, would have liked to use my points for them. I find the pre-paid cards work for me anyway. GameStop to Sell 3D Classics Kid Icarus Too

GameStop to Sell 3D Classics Kid Icarus Too

GameStop to Sell 3D Classics: Kid Icarus Too Nintendo Life

For $5.99 by Share: Didn't pre-order to get your free code for , and worried you've missed out on the downloadable game for good? Not to worry, as GameStop will sell redeem codes for the game online. Last week we reported for download, and that range of two games will expand soon with the arrival of Pit's 3D classic. The game'll set you back $5.99 from when it goes on sale in the near future. Please note that some external links on this page are affiliate links, which means if you click them and make a purchase we may receive a small percentage of the sale. Please read our for more information. [source ] Related Games Share: Comments ) I don't see why they're doing this, but okay. Is it un-buyable on the eShop or something? I hope Nintendo pushes buying downloadable games at stores further, but I think they should have waited awhile before putting this up for sale. At the moment it's not available to buy in the eShop, but you can bet your bottom dollar that'll change this week or next I got my code by walking into a Gamestop and purchasing the code...I got my Kid Icarus uprising at Best Buy for $29 so with the code at $5.99, I saved....$3.99. I had no patience to wait for the game to be available in the e-shop so I'm super stoked to have the original game now. Eh, probably won't get it. I have, like, 30+ games for my 3DS right now, at least. And with KI:U, I'm not planning on getting a game until LM2 or AC3D. Or whatever E3 tells us about games. why do you think they should have waited? I wish they do that at ebgames.ca but they don't. So I hope we get it on the eshop soon. hmm.. this is a great game. Tough difficultly, and it does look great with this remake (I was able to get it for free)....but I almost want to say I love playing it on the Wii better..it's a dollar cheaper, and it's on a big screen. But, it's really preference. The 3DS one has 3 save files along with better looks. WHAT!? only 29$ dollors at best buy!!! damn! i had enough to pre-order it!!! why!? why! whhhhhhyyyyyyy!!! I'm actually glad GameStop did something like this to be honest. I had got a download code for this game for $5.99 this past Saturday while I was attending a Street Fighter X Tekken tournament they were holding. Makes me feel better knowing that I didn't reserve the game and also know that somehow along the road, there would be yet another way to get 3D Classics: Kid Icarus. Besides, it's not that I didn't want Kid Icarus: Uprising at all. It's just that I wanted to see what the reviews would turn out to be like before I plan on buying the game is all. Hm... What advantages are there to download only video games? You don't have to leave your house to get them, you don't have to put in a new cartridge or disc to play them... Any others? No? then what are the disadvantages? Transferring them from one system to another is nearly impossible or just plain impossible, if the system breaks, there's nothing you can do about it... Hm... how can we make this better? I know! LETS MAKE A DOWNLOAD ONLY GAME THAT YOU HAVE TO GO TO A STORE TO BUY LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO- gets shot But you don't have to go to a store to buy it: you can buy it online or in-store. If anything that's a huge improvement on most download-only games! I preordered it at Best Buy.. but i have not received my code in my email account yet.. when will they send it? I got the free game, and I also made a point to try it for a few minutes BEFORE I started Uprising. All these old games just don't appeal to me nearly as much as they did when I was a kid and they were all new. Uprising's weapon system alone is greater than any NES game to date. Oh, well, now I have another title to add to the pile of classics on my 3DS. Free = win You can transfer games across systems very easily... and not putting in another cartridge, in my opinion, is a massive positive. Imagine having to change cartridges for each GBA/NES game you want to play (Ambassador) on your 3DS; it's be incredibly tedious and annoying, and I simply wouldn't have touched half the games. Plus it makes giving stuff away free a lot more... free, for publishers/developers. Bought it Friday! I don't shop at Gamestop, unless I absolutely have to. Their used games market is destroying parts of the industry. I'm glad I'm the only one w/ enough brain cells to realize that's why a bunch of great games studios that make quality games are forced to down-size or close. Good job people! Well, some of us peasants don't have enough money or time to buy and play every game when it comes out but it must be nice to be rich and have all the free time in the world like you do. I see where you're coming from on something like that. Back in the old days when I had a SEGA GENESIS and when GameStop was called FuncoLand. My mother had bought me Mortal Kombat II I believe it was for the GENESIS , used. The dam game wouldn't load right unless you had to practically jam it into the GENESIS while turning it on. Very annoying to me to be honest. That's why when ever I buy a game nowadays from GameStop , I always make sure that the game is NEW and not used. I just don't trust used games or used anything from GameStop , none what so ever at all. 3D Classics: Kid Icarus isn't available on the North American eShop yet so It looks like GameStop got itself an exclusivity agreement or something. I got Splinter Cell for the PS2 for $2, at Gamestop I prefer download only. To buy it at a store is great. I don't want to buy download cards, I'm an impulsive shopper, and I always leave with buyer's remourse. With money however, I can limit myself and only bring the money needed to buy that game. Darn, darn, darn. I was assured by a Nintendo rep two months ago (yeah, lots of stuff can change in that time) that 3D Classics Kid Icarus would not be available in the eShop. I suppose that meant that it could still be sold elsewhere. Ah, well. KI:U was only $29.99 on Amazon preorder, too. I bought it for $39.99 and woke up to an email saying, "We're putting $10 back on your credit card due to our preorder price guarantee." Thus far, 3D Classics Kid Icarus is the best part of the deal. Three chapters in to Uprising, I'm not yet used to the controls. One thing that was different is that when you buy the download the pin number was on the recept rather then a special download card. I guess thats good for the enviornment, but bad in that you need to redeam it quickly since it doesn't take much to rub the ink from recepts off. I was right? its so dumb,i live far away from a game stop, the nearest one is like 4 hours away from me,so i hope it appears in america in the next few weeks I'll wait and see if it does appear on the eShop or not for a while, but it's at least nice to know that there is another way to get the game. I presume that I'd have to change my location to USA in order to download it though. I had to do that before when I bought some American 3DS points, all the games that I bought worked fine, the only thing was that I had to spend all the points or I would have lost them all when I switched my location back to Canada. Actually does anyone know if it's possible to change your location from North America to Europe, access that eShop, download games only available there and then switch it back to North America? I have no idea, but I doubt it. Otherwise, everyone would have all these games from different regions right now. stuff is region locked man Wow, that totally stinks. I pre-ordered it from Amazon and I got my download code the morning Kid Icarus: Uprising was released. When I pre-ordered it, they told me I would get the code within 1-2 days from when it was shipped. Ya man. dark-insanity is right on the whole region locked situation. Heck, even if you were to somehow switch your region to let's say Japan to download a game from their eShop like Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 or Kirby's Dream Land 2 for example, then by the time you switch it back to North America, they probably wouldn't exist on your 3DS after all the trouble you went through to get the games.
I know retail games are region locked but I wasn't sure about the eShop. So basically it is set so that you can only switch and download games from countries within your region. I've switched my location within my country a few times (when tax would have left me short to buy a game) and switched it to the USA to use the points that I had; but I thought it also gave me the option to switch to ones outside my region too which is what made me think of it. I didn't want to try myself though as I have quite a lot of cash on my 3DS at the moment. Seeing as how more than half of the 30 some games I've downloaded on the 3DS were free (including this one), I still have to say there's pros and cons with this setup. Pros: this method is good for players who don't want (or cannot) spend $20 on a card when they only want one game. It's also a good alternative to people who don't have a credit card to put on a predetermined amount. Cons: If a store is selling a DLC code, there can be a small chance the code doesn't work (this has happened to me at least once). There's also the chance that the store may charge more for the code than the company running the handheld would charge for the game. Interpret what you will; I say this game is well worth its purchase. Just bought it anyway. Awesome to have the backgrounds give a whole new meaning to parallax scrolling... Very cool.. GameStop Won t Be Selling Spirit Camera Second Hand

GameStop Won t Be Selling Spirit Camera Second Hand

GameStop Won't Be Selling Spirit Camera Second-Hand Nintendo Life

Frightening by Share: Hoping to grab a cheap pre-owned copy of from GameStop? Sorry, your luck is out — the chain won't be trading in Nintendo's augmented reality experience. The reason is the game relies on an intricate book bundled with new copies; without the book, the software's useless. Even a missing page could halt your progress forever. Rather than insist every store checks every copy intently, GameStop has issued a blanket refusal to trade it in, meaning no bargains for you. That may not be such a bad thing, as our should point out. Related Games Share: Comments ) So does this mean that checking an used game's condition before putting it on sale isn't a common practice at GameStop?
And it is a bad thing because you can't sell the game to them after realizing how lousy it is. Do you know how many trade-ins they get? They don't have time for someone to go through the whole game AND work their job at the cash register. If it doesn't work in someway that's relate-able to the games condition you ARE allowed to return it for a full refund. At least we get the game. Ni No Kuni DS isn't being brought over at all BECAUSE of its book. So does this mean that checking an used game's condition before putting it on sale isn't a common practice at GameStop? That is correct. They expect the customer to take it home and playtest it, and bring it back for a refund if it doesn't work. Party on! And how exactly do the customers prove that the game was faulty before they bought it? Also buying a pig in a poke doesn't sound like a profitable business model but I guess they've been lucky. And to sell such things regularly is a little sketchy at best.
Besides the booklet only has 16 pages, it wouldn't really prolong the buying process that much.
So what happens to the original owner? They just get away with selling damaged games? In other words GameStop doesn´t keep an eye when a game is bought. They don´t care is the game is damaged or broken. Now we see they don´t care too if a game doesn´t have package and blockets. So what happens to the original owner? They just get away with selling damaged games? No idea. They do keep your personal information on file though, so it may prevent you from selling back in the future. I've noticed that they check to see if there's any physical damage on the discs (scratches, ect). They obviously don't have the time to check to see if there's any other sort of damage, because they're busy and just can't immediately pop it into it's respective system to see if it works (if it only won't read during a particular part of the game, it might be even harder to tell). Unless I want a used game I never shop at Gamestop. They pass of used games as new games and than tell you that oh that was the store demo thats why its opened. News flash Gamestop using a new game as a demo still makes it used. IDk what gamestop your going to, but the one I go to NEVER do that. Now that seems like some crap wal-mart would pull on you. Yea, but this is a 3DS game were talkin bout, and they use cartridges. Even harder to tell if its damaged or not. Well, seeing how the game doesn't have good reviews anyway, they'll probably drop the price at some point in the near future. They do not check their games ever which is the reason I don't buy used games. What I hate the most is that their employees have to sell as many used games as possible so they always bug you about getting the used one over the new one. This one employee didn't stop bugging me about getting Red Dead Redemption used, until I got mad and raised my voice at him he desperately wanted to sell it to me. Does anyone know if Gamestop employees have a quota for selling used games? Do you honestly think other stores have better practices? You'd be surprised at all the crap retailers get away with these days. Oh, and to acknowledge your complaint, that is not a common practice at Gamestops. Most of the time, users complain (and I know you read these complaints) about the ONE time their GS did that and exaggerate it to sound like they do it all the time. Heard nothing but bad news about the game anyway. The wait for Project Zero 2 continues... Since when did GameStop care if lack of a peripheral stopped you from playing the game.
In the past they'd just try to sell the gun/mouse/dancepad/etc. separate. Why make a book any difference to their existing greedy way? Greedy? Last I checked, they don't HAVE to buy your games back. I know for a fact that they have quotas for pre orders cuz my friend kept trying to push a soulsilver pre order on me when i already had heart gold bought and everything. this is why they invented the printer. can't people print out their own books? LOL pre owned crap from gamestop is always like $2 less than a new one on sale. So for 3ds owners, a pre owned game price (in CA) is equivalent to tax off a new game. That is why amazon provides all my game orders; costs as much as a pre owned game. U do know there talking bout the book u use to play the game and not the instruction manual booklet right? how much does it cost new?,i went to the store today and saw it but no price...and i was to lazy to check it out I bought this, but i only played it once.
The lighting in my apartment sucks and kills the mood of a horror games to have to play in bright light. I thought the book would be an optional part of the game. About a little after the GCN came out, I convinced my sib for us to sell our SNes, & games. Boy, was I stupid. I could kick myself for that. All I got out of it was Pikmin. Anyway, I used to (really often) frequent Funcoland, & later when they called it Gamestop, while they still sold SNes, & later only/just Nes stuff (in regards to retro consoles, games, & their peripherals). Gamestop stopped selling used pc games, at least my local one did. Basically, anymore, w/ all the news surrounding GS, & the lack of selling retro stuff I'm interested in(Nes/SNes/SM) in, I really don't shop there, unless I can not find what I'm looking for elsewhere, or I'm bound to find a product I need, like a controller, or lens cleaner, much cheaper. Also, I can say this isn't an always, but I also purchased an (apparently new) Gamecube controller from there(those knockoff brand controllers), I accidentally dropped it on my bedroom floor, & now the d-pad, & c-stick refuse to function properly. Not that controllers were made to be dropped, but that speaks volumes for the lack of durability of some of their products. Finally, I try hard to keep what games I know I'll play, & wanna play in the future. I only sell games I am willing to never see, own, or play again. Also, I suggest if you are old enough to legally do so, & competent enough, sell online. You make more than you would re-selling to GS. Even if this game is bad. I find this a kinda idiotic reason, for not reselling it. There are ways to handle these types of games. Plus, I really also wonder, if this game got bad reviews all over online, & GS just doesn't want a game that won't move off their shelves? For awhile I know they used to check to make sure games didn't have moderate to heavy scratches, but other than that no. I quit buying used accessories and games there many years ago because more often than not I'd have to return for a refund or a swap out. They don't care because it costs them more to check everything than let the used buyers be their guinea pigs.
I was referring to them de-bundling items that were originally sold together and selling them in pieces. Just one example I can think of: back when they were selling SNES games, it was pretty easy to find Lethal Enforcers carts, but where's the light gun you need to play the game? (even though the game and the gun were both useless without each other.) I always buy at gamestop. most of the time new games, i only buy used when they have the offers like buy 2 an get 1 free, and things like that. I don't get it. Are there things in the instruction booklet you need to scan with your 3DS's camera? That sux! I just downloaded a very clean PDF of the Book of Faces in case I was able to buy a used copy that didn't have the book. Looks like I'll be scanning Craigslist for a better price on this one. That's a really cool idea. That way you can actually play the game in the dark. I gotta do that if I buy the game used. Ugh that rather sucks, but I guess I'm not that surprised. I was just thinking "how will people trade it in if it requires the booklet, and some people may not be savy to that at the store?"
Ah well, I would maybe consider it if it was cheap, but from reviews not otherwise. Maybe it'll drop to being cheap anyway, Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove dropped. To me this is BS because the Magic or illusions game that was sold for the Ds was heavily dependant on the Magic cards all being there and they frequently resold THAT often without the special deck.. so why not here? Because they didn't sell enough, at a high enough price point, to make the money back, that's one reason. If it's not easy money Gamestop is not interested... that is the premise of the whole game.. the scanning of the book. I have seen gamestop repeatedly put games back on the shelf, that I returned for scratches, would not play, and they still wanted to off it to someone else who wouldn't return it. They did this knowingly. people kept returning it and rather than call it a write off, they still tried scamming people with it... I'm sure your last paragraph nailed the reason right htere... Games We d Love to See at E3 Feature

Games We'd Love to See at E3 - Feature Nintendo Life

We're dreaming by Share: This year’s Nintendo E3 conference is drawing a lot of attention because of Wii U, with the new console giving the company a big chance to seize the day. When it comes to the showcase press conference, however, there’s always one thing that is guaranteed to get the fans excited: games, games and more games. Give Reggie Fils-Aime, Satoru Iwata, Shigeru Miyamoto and company a big stage and an impressive screen, and what you hopefully get are hugely exciting game announcements. This year much attention will be on what games we’ll be able to buy alongside our new Wii U later this year, while we’re sure to see more of any number of 3DS titles already confirmed but awaiting a release date. Yet E3 is wonderful because it can be full of surprises, and our team have put their heads together to produce a list of games that we desperately want to see unveiled next week. Some have been rumoured recently while some are nothing but gaming fantasy, but we hope you’ll agree that they’d all be a pleasant surprise.
A brand new Zelda title on 3DS
After the thoroughly decent success of , not to mention the fact that it was fantastic to play, Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo have said that an all-new Zelda is in development for the handheld: Aonuma even hinted at it in a Swapnote message. It’s a question of when not if, but we’d love that to be a blockbuster 3DS surprise this year.
A new F-Zero title on any platform
Where’s our F-Zero fix? A series that had been consistently delivered from SNES to GameCube has gone missing, skipping the DS and Wii generation entirely. It doesn’t need to be revolutionary, we’re not asking much: just make it outrageously fast with enough loops and speed boosts to make our heads spin. We’ll accept 3DS or Wii U as platforms, or both with some play across both systems if Nintendo really wants to spoil us. We don’t mind, we just want it. If the big N needs inspiration, they can check out the fan trailer below. on
Advance Wars on 3DS
Handheld systems are always perfect for strategy titles that you can dip into on the bus, train or at home. Often graphically simplistic, they give us a chance to use our brains without a professor making us do mathematical puzzles. We already have on the way, so we’re hoping that the Advance Wars series will also get a 3D revamp in the near future.
An exclusive Sonic title for Wii U
SEGA’s mascot made a lot of appearances on Wii, some rather good and some that are best left forgotten. He was a regular, though, so it was disappointing that we missed out on , which was positively received on other consoles. All will be forgiven if the Sonic Team has been working on a secret project for Wii U, because when it’s on form it’s still a franchise that can thrill.
Some new 1080° action
Ah, 1080°, a two-game snowboarding series that graced Nintendo 64 and GameCube and, like F-Zero, skipped over the Wii. It may be a niche sport that many of us never try, but as a videogame it’s fun and full of thrills. It’s time for a revival on Wii U, with big slopes and cool tricks the order of the day: that touchscreen controller could be useful in this one.
Yoshi s Island on Wii U
We’ll probably have to file this one as ‘unlikely’, simply because New Super Mario Bros. Mii, or whatever the 2D Mario will be called, is more than likely to be part of Nintendo’s launch plans. We’d even accept a teaser for a late-2013 release, but give us the hand-drawn style of the SNES title with the ability to paint or draw platforms and more on the Wii U controller, and it could be one of the most innovative platformers in recent memory.
A new IP from Retro Studios
We like Retro Studios, as it’s brought us the brilliant and ; it's been relatively quiet since, aside from some contributory work on . As one of the finest studios working for Nintendo, we hope that it’s given a new IP to make the most of Wii U. Not Metroid, Star Fox or any other franchise; something brand new. Give us the unexpected. So those are just some of the announcements we dream of seeing at E3. The question is though, what surprise announcements do you want to see? Let us know in the comments below. Share: Comments ) For "Dreaming" These are some pretty down to earth wishes (except for Yoshi's Island). I'd be very surprised if none of those happen at this or at least the next E3 or TGS. Nice list! Aside from Yoshi's Island, this is on my list too. Great choices! I Hope you all get what you asked for cause I can agree with most. I really, really, REALLY want them to announce another Mario & Luigi RPG game. All of those have been amazing. Yoshi's island 3D sounds better and all e island games on my 3DS would be cool, let's hope it's better then DS though I want a Super Mario Sunshine 3D remake. Hoping we see monoliths new game. I know it would never happen due to MS owning the rights to Killer Instinct but I would love to see a new KI game on either the Wii U or 3DS. Of course now that I think of it a 3DS KI isn't too far fetched since MS doesn't have a handheld console. how about cobra triangle wii u or 3ds
that would be cool good article, I agree with all of it I would especially love to see a new 1080, I LOVED that game on both n64 and gc, same as wave race and f-zero, they need to bring them back! I would love to see a brand new Donkey Kong, Metroid and Zelda on the 3DS. That is all. I just want Metroid on the Wii U in an FPS style like the Prime series. I'd buy a Wii U only for that Add to that: Wii U Metroid 5, 3DS Metroid 2 remake and a new Pokemon Snap for whatever the Wii U online store will be called. Is it OK to say something non-Nintendo here? Cause I really want that David Cage game that's been rumored to be appearing at E3 this year Since we are dreaming can we have another game created by Shigesato Itoi;) What about Sonic Generations instead of the exclusive?(which could still be made later on).Sega just need to port it,it should be really easy. I second that also, by the way sega, generations 3ds should have NEVER happened. A new Crystal Chronicles game for 3DS. Wii U or both! Original's art style, RoF/EoT style gameplay and Heroes of Ruin's connectivity features! Sonic Adventure 3DS please, Sonic Team :3. I totally want a Monster Hunter game on the 3DS, and Minecraft for Wii U. That is all I'm asking for! I just can't wait to see what Retro has been working on! my wish list...
-donkey kong 3d land
-f zero 3ds
-zelda 3ds
-monster hunter 3g for n.a.
-sonic adventure 1& 2 remade for the 3ds with way better graphics and camera angles
-wario land 3ds
-wario ware 3ds
-METROID 3DS!!!!!!!! A new IP from Monolith Studios and Retro Studios. And more iniciative from NOA to bring us more new titles like Xenoblade or Fatal Frame. I'm probably going to get torn to pieces for both these statements, but here goes. Sonic games are generally terrible and I think Yoshi's Island is vastly overrated. There. I said it. If I was to pick games I'd love to see at E3 I'd pick Eternal Darkness 2 (Wii U), a new 2D Metroid (3DS), A sequel to Punch Out!!! (Wii U - perhaps implementing mechanics similar to those shown in the 'Shield Pose' demo) and a new 1080° or Wave Race would be pretty cool. I don't know about Yoshi's Island (great game) but I really liked your idea of a painting game on the WiiU controller. I think there are at least 2 if not 3 different drawing pads for the home consoles, might as well make a game at launch using the Wii U pad, and make it a free DL like on the 3DS
I'ld love to see a Starfox Adventures follow-up called Dinosaur Planet starring Krystal. Starfox can have a radio communication conversation cameo for continuities sake. Those GC graphics still stand up today, I'ld love to see what they could do on the Wii U. (Disclaimer, I'm a big 3rd person adventure platformer fan).
I know there will be some big reveals but I'm really most interested as to what they put in the box (a la Wii Sports) that will give it that must own factor. I'm still hoping for video chat enabled family game stuff like tic tac toe, hangman and battleship to play up online. All my family households have WiiSpeak, it's time to take it up a notch. I second that. Adventure 2 was an amazing game, and in dire need of a 3DS sequel . Golden Sun 4 please (and done right too) Add "more info with Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U" for me. 1080 in 1080p? Yes please I for one loved Sonic Generations 3DS. I love it so much, I can easily say, Sonic Generations gave me the best experiance from a 3DS title and it's my favorite Sonic title. It's so easy to pick up and play, the 3D is wonderful for the most part, and there was so much to collect, from Art to Card Patterns.
Also I want to see Dragon Quest X at E3. oh brother... console versions are waaaaaaay better! the 3ds should have been better off with a BRAND new sonic title (facepalm to myself) This I agree with. Rather than a "version", an exclusive title built from the ground up for the 3DS would've been great. Yoshi's Island, YES!! I don't care what platform it'd be for, as long as there will be one! The Yoshi series is currently on the longest pause the series has seen yet (being 6 years and counting since Yoshi's Island DS) and Yoshi really deserves another chance to truly shine on his own. I don't know if I'm really a fan of the whole drawing your own platform idea for Yoshi's game, though, but it's better than having to switch around babies. Either way though, I'll be glad with ANY kind of new Yoshi game at this point; even if it's 'just' a Yoshi's Cookie puzzler. I miss the Wave race series and if they could implement the motion controls from Wii Sports resort that would be great. I want a new Metroid Prime for Wii U, a new Zelda for 3DS, a new Golden Sun for 3DS and Etrian Odyssey for 3DS to be published in Europe. And well, a lot of other things too. If we're dreaming give me a new Earthbound. Nothing else could blow my mind more. Itoi has already confirmed he is done with the series. I just feel like starfox needs a wii u game. Starfox 64 3D just Beggs for a new entry! A new Zelda reveal (or majora's mask 3D) would be nice too, but Starfox seems like the perfect thing on wii U!!! F-Zero? Not so much... Seems like a good idea for the 3DS, but it's not really a major series compared to some others that have been made, so I am not sure what to expect... I hope both the 3DS and Wii U Ware get classic styled Advance Wars games. If there Is news about flipnote memo and a great WiiU presentation, then this will be the best nintendo e3 show EVER ( in my opinion ) I have played both editions. And they are both wonderful. I just prefer The Sonic Rush style over Sonic Adventure. Mostly for simplicity. As in general, I prefer hanheld at most times, however sometimes a Portable Port is pretty sloppy. Well either way NO ONE will force me to buy the 3ds game because I will just be disappointed. All I want is a new Star Fox game. That is all. You know that the flipnote app is not really a major app compared to what the other similar apps (Like Colors 3D) are, right? I don't really get the hype for the Flipnote app, I just don't. Some new features to make flipnote work better would be nice, though... Agreed. Command left a bad taste in most people's mouths, But if SF643D is a sign of things to come, then It should happen. I'd like the Yoshi's Island game to be developed by Good-Feel, which has proven itself with Wario Land: The Shake Dimension and especially Kirby's Epic Yarn. Also wouldn't say no to a Platinum Games / Nintendo collaboration on a new IP... Of those Advance Wars is the only one that interests me, especially if they'd go with the somewhat more "serious" aproach that Days of Ruin introduced. What I'd like to see are some decent non-atlus JRPGs (just for a chance of pace of course, I still love Atlus to death) for 3DS and also a confirmation that Castlevania Mirrors of Fate is a Metroidvania and it's made by legimate developers (read: japanese developers). Speaking of Metroidvania, Nintendo should surprise us by announcing a all-new, non-outsourced 2D metroid for the 3DS. I'd seriously crap my pants. BUT most likely all were getting is some generic casual games for WII U and 3DS and a stock Zelda and Mario game. New Yoshi´s Island and Mario & Luigi 4 would be amazing. I'm dreaming of a gaming Christmas. Sorry, but as soon as I saw the article it for some reason reminded me of the song "White Christmas". Also, my game list for the Wii U/3DS are: Pokemon (Wii U and/or 3DS) Pokemon RPG (Wii U) Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Wii U and/or 3DS) F-Zero (Wii U and/or 3DS) Mario (Wii U and/or 3DS) Super-Mario-World like game (3DS) Mario-Paint like game (Wii U) Zelda (Wii U and/or 3DS) Zelda Wind-Waker like game (3DS) Zelda (Wii U and/or 3DS) Metroid (Wii U and/or 3DS) Star Fox (Wii U and/or 3DS) Kirby (Wii U and/or 3DS) Kid Icarus (Wii U) Donkey Kong Country (Wii U) Fire Emblem (Wii U) New IP (Wii U and/or 3DS) Kingdom Hearts III (Wii U) Kingdom Hearts (Wii U) Final Fantasy (Wii U) Remake of entire Compilation of Final Fantasy VII (Wii U) Square Enix game (Wii U and/or 3DS) Atlus game (Wii U and/or 3DS) XSEED game (Wii U and/or 3DS) Capcom game (Wii U and/or 3DS)
and don't get me started on games that have been announced, applications, things that should be localized, or stuff I want to work on. All I want is news on Luigis Mansion 2, Paper Mario 2, Pokemon Black and White 2, and a release date for Animal Crossing: Jump Out. This next one is impossible but I would love for them to release Mother 1+2+3 on the 3ds or on the eShop A proper splinter cell, where sam is dressed in black with NVG's!! on 3ds Here are my top 5 for each system.
P.s. I love cod.
3DS:
1:COD: Black Ops 2 (narrative story)
2: Metroid FPS (both cpp compatible)
3: Ghost Recon Title TPS not over the head
4:Assassins Creed
5: Resident Evil: Downfall to be true
Most are third because I know 1st party are going to be good.
Wii .U:
1: **COD:BO2***!!!
2.METROID FPS
3.Medal of Honor: Warfighter
4:GTAV
5: RE:6 I'd really like the wedding experience to be announced at E3: something old (retro remake or sequel); something new (brand-new main series title or IP); something borrowed (a high-quality title by a non-Nintendo company); and something blue (a Nintendo-exclusive Sonic game). Animal Crossing WiiU with a feature that lets you view the town before you move in and with a randomizer-button you can push until you get a layout you like. Professor Layton WiiU. An all new game or HD compilation of the DS games. MOTHER TRILOGY WiiU. To be perfectly honest, I'd like to see a few unknown games from Nintendo! I remember Miyamoto saying he's been working on a few smaller projects and I'm hoping to see some of them this year. Of course, I'd really like to see what the next Mario game will look like! Mario and another attempt at a side-scrolling Metroid game. Nice list! I really want a new F-Zero, Star Fox, or Metroid. Any of those 3 would be perfect for a brand new HD system. I also wish we could see a new Yoshi's Island, that would be awesome. Super Mario Sunshine 2 maybe? A remake of EarthBound? The list goes on and on. E3 can't come fast enough! Not to take away from F-Zero, although I'm not really into it, I'd like to hear about another Excite game. Excite Rides, or something like that. An epic 3DS update would deff be on my wishlist<3
and WHAT would you want to be in the update? you know what i want? A RELEASE DATE FOR FLIPNOTE MEMO. WHAT THE FLAP?!! ITS LIKE NINTENDO DOESNT EVEN CARE ABOUT IT. Looking forward to seeing what they reveal at E3. They really have a huge arsenal of stuff they can reveal at E3. Any info on Earthbound for VC would be nice, seeing how legal issues are holding it back... I have Mother 1+2 though, so I don't think I would explode in happiness if they released it on that day. If only someone could actually ask Reggie about the Mother games, or start a random campaign. (Operation Nessfall, anyone?) Cool a Yoshi's island for Wii U! -A new Zelda Game for 3DS and Wii U.-A new Metroid for 3DS and Wii U. -A new Mario for Wii U.-Professor Layton for Wii U.
NEW IP s for 3DS and Wii U
Yeah, those would all be cool. Anyone who's been on this site for around a year should know what I'm going to say.
Does my avatar give you a hint? Wish-wise, already getting a 2-in-1, with my wish for another Mario side scroller. Instead, we're getting TWO (though presumably not connected with SMW, as I've always hoped). So, for the rest of E3, I'll take what I can get. I'm hoping The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past remake (or a new overhead Zelda). And at some point, with the Japanese Final Fantasy 25th anniversary, an announcement of some retro FF goodness, like FF V and/or FF VI remake for 3DS! Next, F-Zero Wii U and/or 3DS. Also, old school Metroid for 3DS please. Also, from the land of unlikely, an official kick-flank My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic game made for Bronies. And from the land of no way in Hades (after KI: U, Hell is Hades to me ), a Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt game. I'm surprised you guys didn't mention Pikmin 3 or Miyamoto's mysterious "New IP". Those are two big ones to look out for next week. The games I want to see during the wiiU's lifetime are:
Pikmin 3
Metroid Dread
F-zero
A new wave race
Eternal Darkness 2
Resident Evil 6
Next Metal Gear
LoZ a link to the past Remake
A new castlevania (not lord of shadows, a traditional castlevania game like super castlevania IV)
A new LoZ
A new 3D mario game (a true sequel to super mario 64)
Final Fantasy XIII Versus
Kingdom Hearts Collection
Battlefield 3
A new Sonic game
Monster Hunter 4
A new Earthbound
Fire Emblem
A new Kid Icarus
A Pokemon MMO
and Mario Paint i wouldnt mind seeing a new 1080, that game was great. i would like to see a new pokemon trading card game like the one for gameboy, with all new card on 3DS, it would make my day. I wouldnt mind seeing a new Hey You Pikachu!, Starfox, and F-Zero. or just give me pro wrestling on the virtual console. My wishlist (though not expecting at e3)
Wii U
-A new Paper Mario game
-A Mario game truly inspired by Super Mario 64
-A new Mario Sports Mix game
-Mario Party 10
-Mario Kart 8
-Donkey Kong Country Returns 2
-A Zelda game inspired by Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword
-A new Kirby game inspired by Return to Dream Land and Super Star
-A new Wii Sports game
-A new Bomberman game
-A new 3D Rayman game
-Maybe a new Final Fantasy game
-A new Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde game (I'm joking)
3DS
-Mega Man 2: Powered Up
-Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins
-Mother 1+2+3
-Mario and Luigi 4
-Final Fantasy V and VI remakes I just want a release date for Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario 3D.
This This This This This. Mario & Luigi RPG 4, if it were to be announced, would be the highlight of E3 for me. If any of these happen, besides the 1080 thing, I would be ecstatic. Beyond ecstatic. I want Luigi's Mansion 2 , SSBB, and Animal Crossing 3D!
This. Times a billion. It would be nice to have release dates for those as well as Animal Crossing, especially since PM and AC were announced two years ago. Aside from those, I'd like to see a new, full 3D Mario game along the lines of 64/Sunshine/Galaxy. I'd settle for Galaxy 3. I'm just tired of NSMB and I was thoroughly underwhelmed by 3D Land. I don't want a new IP just yet. Nintendo has a backlog of franchises and series that need the attention they deserve. Hell, I want to see a new Ice Climbers game- albeit a small revival on eShop/WiiU Shop. A multiplayer-modernized Balloon Fight.. Star Fox, Metroid. How about a new Baten Kaitos (not sure if Nintendo owns the franchise since they did buy most shares of Monolith but I think Namco owns the rights). I'd say focus on bringing old IPs to life and worry about brand new ones later that are relatively like Mario or Zelda in terms of scale. Of all these, definitely the most interesting would be a new IP by Retro. They haven't had the chance to try their talent on something new and with their craftmanship it would be awesome. Thinking on what Rare could do on the N64 I agree with everything on the list & I'd love to see a new Wave Race game come out too. Oh & another Metroid Prime game, those were awesome. whatever is there they need some more 'mainstream' hardcore games for 3ds to rally the gamers.
true story: someone broke into my house yesterday. got the call and raced home to see what was taken. a mac-air laptop, some camera/audio recording gear, a little hard drive, and a jar of pennies; just stuff they could carry. the 3DS sitting on it's charger in plain view - not touched. Really?! I'm glad, but come on! What has this world come to?! I won't even mention the Wii, I haven't touched it myself in a month, since getting a brand-x box.
WiiU can't come soon enough, and I'd like some action 3ds titles. Bring on Link and Samus. maybe they didn't touch the 3DS because of its shear awesomeness to much for them to handle I'd love to see a new Elite Beat Agents, especially with DLC. I want iNiS to make some more good music games instead of junk like that Black Eyed Peas Kinect game or the Xbox karaoke game, Lips (which was not bad, I just want something akin to EBA or Gitaroo Man) Was your 3DS cosmo black, because I have trouble seeing my 3DS in the dark sometimes. LucasArts never delivered the MotionPlus lightsaber combat we all wanted on the Wii. Will we see it on Wii U? Holy... I am listening to Choke right now as I read the new 1080 game you guys wanted. I have to 100% agree. We need good music in it though Maybe Nintendo could contact Jesse and see if he'd be willing to put Choke in again, because truly, that's the game's theme song if you ask me. Oh lord... you got me thinking if they really will!!! Ricky Winterboard... omfg. Now my hopes are all up!! How about a new Kirby game for Wii U?! Damn I hated 1080 Snowboarding for the N64. Both 1080 games blew big chunks. I hope that franchise stays dead. I've NEVER played a more boring snowboarding game in my life. Mario Paint U: 'Nuff said. &
Lots and lotsa Internets for you guyz! MARIO PAINT WII U FTW! Just imagining all the improvements and additions that could be made to Mario Paint 20 years later is mind blowing. One of my favorite hobbies on YouTube is listening to Mario Paint music compositions. And the fly swatting game with next gen graphics, in 1080P. GOD MY OHHHHHHHHH! Please please please: Fatal Frame game(s) on Wii! This is the only announcement that I'm actively hoping to hear from NoA. I'm sure they will have some interesting news on other fronts, and probably some nice surprises. But hearing that NoA wants to give the Wii a solid send-off with the Rainfall Trilogy (2/3 there already) and Fatal Frame games would leave me hot and breathless... . Donkey Kong 64 3D
. Sonic Generations on Wii U (Hopefully with extras like SADX)
. Poke'mon Stadium 3D (notice the play on words, it's Pok'emon Stadium 3 on 3DS
. Luigi's Mansion 2 (Footage) All these are totally possible. Except Advance Wars, that won't make it to the U.S. even if it is released. Also, even if they announce a new zelda it will be a good two years before it comes out. A new Yoshi's island would be AMAZING! Make it so! I agree tho it won't happen until after the mario game. My pics: -New starfox/f-zero from retro
-New eternal darkness from silicon knights
-Wii U sports/play/etc
-Wii U Paint (its just too easy)
-Tons of third party stuff
-First vid or concept art for smash bros
-first announcement of new zelda
-A new IP? I'd like to see... Every Wii comes packed with showfloor tech-demos.(erasable and redownloadable.) Including the Zelda HD tech demo. Super Mario Bro's Mii
Pikmin 3
Star Fox (by Retro Studios) emphasis on the serious epic space battles etc.
Metroid (by Retro Studios) -featuring 3rd-person gameplay with many 1st-person elements-utilizing the controller screen and motion.
NightSky and LaMulana and Toki Tori 2 and LostWinds 3 leading the Wii u eShop line-up.
Kirby's Dreamcourse 2
Star Tropics 3
Skies of Arcadia 2
Shenmue 1-2 HD release on eShop.
Shenmue 3 teaser
Legend of Zelda HD teaser at least.
Super Mario WiiU teaser at least.
Ice Climbers: Chill Out!
Rhythm Heaven WiiU
Rhythm Heaven 3DS
Rhythm Tengoku (GBA released on 3DS VC)
WarioWare Wii U Mii (party style, and quickplay, but also featuring DIY games)
Metroid Dread 3DS
LoZ OoT (3DS version released for Wii U on eShop)
PilotWings Wii U (featuring instrumentation on the controller screen and featuring heavier aircraft then ultralights.)
Seiken Densetsu 3, and Double Dragon II (Turbo DUO version) lead the WiiU VC charge followed quickly by Namco's Solvalu, and StarBlade. WaLuigi revealed to be DK3's Stanley in disguise. Oh yes,...and a cryptic teaser about Miyamoto and Retro Studios working on another Zelda HD game. donkey kong 64 for 3DS Give me F-Zero on 3DS or WiiU or even Wii. If I do not hear an announcement for F-Zero at E3 I am selling my Wii, my 3DS and will not buy a wiiU. Instead I will pick up a second hand GBA, GameCube and N64 and F-Zero on those machines. Don't let me down Nintendo. I mean it!
Uhhh.. What are you talking about? Every single Advance Wars title after the GBA one has made it to both USA and Europe, in fact the latest AW title, Days of Ruin, was released in USA and EU, but not in Japan. I don't see any reason why a new AW wouldn't get an international release. hopefully they will talk about ssb4, that's what i really care about right now. A new 3d platformer, don't care what it is so long as Nintendo make it. A new take on Zelda Four Swords for the Wii U (and 3DS if you want, just saw the above post). That is my dream and certainly NOT my prediction. If we're talkinng about wish lists: 1: A new Metroid with gameplay similar to metroid other M (for the 3DS or Wii U) or a side-scrolling Metroid game. (this one for 3DS only)
2: Castlevania 3DS (Also, it would be good to hear about Castlevania LOS 1 and 2 being confirmed for Wii U)
3: Zelda for 3DS (something like Skyward sword would be nice)
4: Monster Hunter Tri G for the West...with Online Multiplayer support /o/
5: F-zero!
6: Well, I'd love to see Nintendo at least talking about some kind of MMORPG for Wii U, but I don't think it will happen xD I wouldn't mind if they make a Zelda game with the same style graphics like OoT.. Also like to see a Super Smash Bros for 3DS N64 and gamecube virtual console for 3ds using the 'pad pro? My wishlist: Animal Crossing 3DS,and a MLP FIM video game; a brony can dream, right? Precisely NONE of these were revealed. Leave A Comment Hold on there, you need to to post a comment...
Related Articles
Don't Leaf me this way What would U suggest for Mii? GameStop Exploring Possibility of Second Hand Digital Sales

GameStop Exploring Possibility of Second Hand Digital Sales

GameStop Exploring Possibility of Second-Hand Digital Sales Nintendo Life

This could affect us, Nintendo fans! by Share: As you can tell from our tagline, it's with a sense of genuine delight that we can bring you news about potential industry changes with retail download software, and actually have an interest in the outcome. After so long lagging behind Sony, Microsoft and PC platforms in terms of full retail downloads, Nintendo will soon be joining the party and playing a role in this part of the games business. One thing that's currently restricted to boxed games is buying and selling second hand titles. The trade-in and second hand games market may not be universally popular, particularly with publishers, but it's a part of the retail landscape and allows gamers with less money to still enjoy their hobby. Naturally, if retailers had the opportunity to buy and sell downloaded game licenses second hand, that would mean that any game purchase could, potentially, have resale value for the gamer. This could become a reality in the future, based on what GameStop CEO Paul Raines has told . It’s very interesting. There are some technologies out there in Europe, and we’ve looked at a couple that are involved. We’re interested; it’s not a meaningful business yet. Right now we’re not seeing that as a huge market, but I think we’re on the leading edge. There are a few companies, a few startups, out there that we’ve talked to that are doing this. It's only natural that publishers themselves won't be keen, but it's interesting to note that a recent EU ruling stated that users shouldn't be prevented from re-selling their download licences for games. The reality of trading-in or selling a download title may not be right around the corner, but it could become a reality in the future. [source ] Share: Comments ) No GameStop in UK. I think... It's not too surprising- they're the only ones reselling Skylanders, after all. I don't buy games pre-owned unless they're old anyway, but I'm curious to see what they'll do... .....how exactly does one do that? My thoughts exactly . Not sure exactly that's going to work, but I don't sell my games anyway so whatever. I am a little puzzled of how this will work and how it will be of a benefit to anybody? And yes! I never trade my games in either! How will selling digital copies second-hand work exactly? Everyone will get the game but at a cheaper price because of second-hand trading in... GameStop are only online in the UK I believe. It's safe to say, though, that other retailers would also get in on the act. Hopefully I could sell old DSiWare... No, get out of here GameStop, go destroy the industry with your secondhand sales somewhere else. Wouldn't it be like buying a Wii/3DS points card, using the points then taking the card back and asking for a refund? I thought all the praise for digital downloads from developers came from the fact that you cannot resell or buy within a secondhand market. Now someone is trying to work their way around to kickoff a digital sechand market? the vicious circle continues to form within another avenue... It didn't take long I still think you will get your usual $9 back. Gamestop is a company that has to make money some how, so you would never get back $20 for a game that you paid $40 for. Uh...huh.
Until then Nintendo - I'll be happy with my physical copies. I would not get any unless there is a substantial decrease in price, knowing gamestop, the difference in price with respect to a "new digital" download will only be a couple of dollars. But if it's digital you can't run out of copies, right? And if you can't run out of copies what's the point of having a trade-in program? Oh good. Let's have the retailers ruin the ability for game makers to finally earn a fair commission for their work. I would rather GameStopmgo bankrupt than Nintendo or Square Enix. they could just give you money then they use software transfer to put it on a 3ds then when someone wants to buy a second hand download they do the reverse Digital purchases, typically, are locked by a licence and DRM (digital rights management), otherwise everyone would distribute copies of games with impunity (sharing sites hack code and do this, but that's illegal). The EU judgement basically said, I believe, that these digital licences belong to the customer in the same way as a physical object, so should therefore be eligible to be sold/traded etc in the same way. As for the second-hand industry in general, publishers lose out on direct money, yes, but that applies with second-hand anything, not just games. It's invaluable for poorer gamers. Gamestop thrive on the second-hand industry. That's the only reason they still have their heads above water. Obviously it has its cons, but it's good for the jobs industry, which is quite important in a recession That would help the situation. about time someone starting thinking of this, I hope they do have a service digital games, cause so far buying digital isn't really appealing if your a person who plays a game and than re-sales it so they can get money back and buy other games. Good for gamestop/ebgames!! (For once...) I'm ever so slightly open to digital retail now. My immediate reaction: What the hell? My current reaction: What the hell? Well, if they did this, I don't know what the motivation would be to buy a new digital copy over a used one, because if it's digital it's not like you're worried about the card being banged up or someone else having thumbed through your manual. This almost makes sense...
If we eventually transition to an entirely digital industry and the technology exists that can extract a specific game from your console, and then it has a one-time use code attached to it for someone else to use when they buy it used. Of course everyone would buy their codes used while inventory was available... but I guess publishers could keep leaving out mulitplayer for used copies or whatever. And this also would require Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft to get on board adding whatever technology this is to their infrastructure — so if they really want to keep a good retail relationship I guess it could work. It definitely would solve the biggest problem with the digital format, which is not actually owning the game you buy because you aren't allowed to sell it. Wouldn't GameStop have to work with the hardware makers (Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft) to come up with some kind of system for this to even be possible? Why anyone would want a company that provides thousands of jobs to go bankrupt is beyond me... I don't see anyone complaining about used CDs or records or anything else that is sold as used. And that includes everything ever made. Most people who buy used probably wouldn't buy at all if it wasn't an option. you can't really resale a downloadable game, that really doesn't make sense Interesting. Lets see where this goes Digital resale would only be beneficial to retailers and the consumer, but not for Nintendo or other publishers. Nintendo has already been posting losses lately, why would they authorize something like this? becaues GS thinks that nintendo makes bad choices. gamestop is always up to something. AWESOME, trade-in and resale is one of the major drawbacks to digital downloads. Doesn't matter to me I wont deal with those crooks. , while the gaming companies technically could restrict it, the point is that courts (so far in Europe) are saying they aren't allowed to. The courts are saying that people have the right to resell their digital games' license. the game developers and publishers employ more than the retailers. Given its turning into an 'us or them' situation, I would rather see the game producers remain healthy than the people that do nothing more than push boxes at consumers. Please shut up and die, Gamestop. That is all. my thoughts exactly I don't get how used games hurt developers. From my experience, it helps them in the long run. Buy one game in a series used, get interested in said series, buy future games in said series new. That used purchase that didn't help the dev, just turned into 2 or more purchases that do help the dev. Used games = good for industry. Nope you guys get GAME, North Americans Get GameStop. But there's no physical object to trade. Besides, Gamestop doesn't sell retro titles more than one generation back. Real retro stores deal exclusively in used goods, and they get lots of my business. I buy current generation titles new to support the publishers. that's interesting about the recent EU ruling — i'll be curious to know how exactly they plan to allow people to transfer their titles from one person to another. I won't buy a used game just to save $5, I'd rather the money go to the publisher. However, if it is a poorly reviewed title that is drastically reduced in price, I might be willing to pay the $10-15 to try it out versus having to pay $50 for a new game. Ha, GameStop can go for all I care.
Me: Can I return this game? I didn't like it much.
Employee: No, you can't return it since it's open. However we can take it for $5 and sell it for $55, though. GameStop is primarily in the US. I was at a Gamestop speaking with a friend (employee) about the EU ruling and another worker in there all but got into a knockdown drag out with me over the supposed fact that "GameStop would never sell used media." Of course, he had no idea about the EU ruling, and when I tried to explain it to him, all I got was a massive defense that boiled down to: "Well, that's the UK, not the US. That'll never happen here." The UK ruling was massive forward movement for the coming digital age. The will bring massive changes to the way digital media is being sold. It is possible to sell/resell media. Yes, there are hurdles to overcome, but so did motion control and you see where they got the Wii! I definitely see it happening here in the us especially after what happen with the music industry.. though two different situations... I remember Record companies trying to stop digital downloads but had no choice but to surrender... thank you mp3 and Ipod If the gaming consumers in the US fall in love with digital downloads then I definitely see second hand digital sales happening in the US... Really, what is the point of second hand digital sales? Digital games are unlimited... I'm confused how this works...that means one person could buy one license and Gamestop just keeps reselling to new people at the same price, as there is no incentive to buy "new" digital copies anymore. How do the developers make ANYTHING?
Not quite. Person A buys license but revokes it, selling it back to Gamestop (you can't revoke it on DD platforms yet...you can with software such as the one the EU court case was about). Gamestop now have 1 license they can sell. So same as physical... As for making money developers will have to adapt and offer things that are more than the software or work on commission for publishers. Or relying on day 1 sales...or paradoxically, their game being unpopular (less sold copies exist mean less can be traded). I also have no idea how it will work! Besides, I guess it will only work if you buy your digital game via a retail-shop. And let's face it: Isn't that a bit daft? I mean, who goes to a normal shop to buy a download-code or a card with a download-code on it? I guess most people will just buy a e-shop card or pay by using a creditcard! I myself always use e-shop cards! No thanks, I'll stay away from digital copies and GameStop. I love gamestop to be honest, sure the trade in prices arn't that good but when they have deals and special trade in offers it helps out a bunch, and also the used game sales help out alot too? I dont think im a bad person for wanting to buy a used game that sometimes costs half the price of a new game. I'm not getting a different experience from buying new to used. So I personally don't see the issue furthermore if the game is old I dont think buying Mario Sunshine used is going to destroy Nintendo. Platform owners will veto this. Ever read a license agreement when you download something on the eShop, PSN, or XBL? It talks about an exclusive, non transferable license to play the game. You don't own the software, legally. GameStop Closes Wii U Pre Orders in the U S

GameStop Closes Wii U Pre Orders in the U S

GameStop Closes Wii U Pre-Orders in the U.S. Nintendo Life

Waiting lists opened by Share: While pre-orders are still very much available, at the time of writing, around Europe and elsewhere, it seems that demand for Wii U in the U.S. is hitting some impressive heights. We previously reported that , in terms of online purchases, but it's now being reported by that major retailer GameStop has completely stopped Wii U pre-orders. An alternative is being offered to members of the PowerUp Rewards loyalty program, in that they can be placed on a waiting list — without a deposit — and they'll be contacted with an update when the system launches on 18th November. Being on the waiting list is no guarantee and it seems likely that those without a pre-order will be unable, waiting list or not, to get a system on launch day. We haven't yet seen reports of sales on this level in other territories, with retailers still accepting pre-orders; the U.S. is undoubtedly in love with Wii U, however, which is sure to make Reggie Fils-Aime and his colleagues smile. [source , via ] Share: Comments ) I'm pretty sure that all retailers in AUS are still accepting pre-orders. EB said that once Nintendo says stop they'll stop. Though everyone who doesn't get one should buy a Vita. There is a Wii u pre order on fleabay for £100. Thats just for the pre order slip, so you would still have to fork out for the console on top! robbing bar stewards ! And then you can already buy all the games that are gonna be released next year on Wii U. You win! Glad I got my preorder in! I got the first Deluxe preorder at my local GameStop so I know I'm guaranteed a system. Woo! without knowing how many units each store is being allowed, it doesn't mean much of anything at this point. Space Kappa good for you! thank god that pre-orders arent sold out in canada! Wow. I thought that the iphone 5 was going to completely overshadow the wii u. The iPhone 5 sold over 5 million in the launch weekend. Good luck getting those figures with a Wii U. At least this isn't happening in the UK. no WiiU for me after all the hype i got into.
no pre-orders around me, at least no certified pre-order.
plus, calculating everything needed for the launch, and it makes a freaking bill for this machine. (need a wiimote+nunchuk, another game since nintendo land wont satisfy me for months, and a third gamepad (the pro one) for my kids) the console itself is well priced. but being unequipped cause i have no Wii for the other gamepads, it piles a nice sum of money for a machine im not sure about. its a machine oyu gotta get at launch, elseway you better get the ps4 (or xbox for micro fans) ill cash that stash of cash and grow it for the PS4. im so sorry nintendo,
at least i got your 3DS We are the momentum, don't wait to see what happens, be part of what happens. If everyone who wanted one sat back to see what happens, nothing would happen. The more people that buy it, the more support the system will get, and the more successful it will have. We make a console a success by buying it, not waiting to see if it succedes without us. The best system ever made would be nothing if people didn't buy it, correct? Same here in the Netherlands, one of the big retailers over here stopped taking preorders too... And I didn't order one yet, so it looks like I will need to wait a little longer I'm glad I just preordered at Best Buy! some of us have already given nintendo enough money over the decades to feel able to give this one some time before purchasing. Not interested right now. Most of the launch games are games I've already passed on the XBOX 360. New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land are also not worth buying the system new for. I'll get Mario one day, just when there are more games I want to buy released. We're happy for you! Having said that, maybe if you didn't have the pests that are known as kids you could afford it sarcasm... but really, kids are the murderers of dreams Dang I'm glad I pre-ordered mine! Good thing I got mine at Best Buy! Are you talking about stamping out AIDS or pre-ordering a video game system
Nintendo should have released an HD Wii a couple of years ago, so I'm in no rush now. Nintendo can sell me a system on MY timetable, not theirs.
The advantage of NOT pre-ordering is getting the best deal. While manufactures may set the MSRP, and it holds well in the case of video game consoles I'll admit, stores want your business. Whether the WiiU sells 1 million or 10 million, stores offer deals with GC and add-ons to make you buy at THEIR store - not just to sell stuff for Nintendo to make money. Target, Best Buy, Toys R US, Wal-mart, Kmart will all be offering incentives, if not at launch then by Feb. Gamestop is the only retailer I can think of that doesn't, and I buy a lot of games from them, but never consoles.
We're not talking world peace or an end to hunger, it's a pastime, of which there are many, and this one will be available for years to come. I doubt I'm getting one, but if I did I wouldn't want it on launch day. I generally wait a month to let some games come out before buying a console and considering one month later is christmas it'd be a great time to buy with the inevitable sales. Though a couple days later is black friday and cyber monday so plenty of sales ought to be going on. At the earliest I won't be able to get mine until Christmas. Pre-ordered and done. Now the White ones are running out as well. This may be as bad as the Wii at launch from the sounds of things, though I won't hold my breath. I doubt Gamestop could get many systems, being as they prefer to sell stuff used. If I were Nintendo, I wouldn't be as interested in having my systems sold at a retailer that specializes in used game sales, since they're less likely to get new game sales tied to those systems. Gamestop is known for not always having enough new copies of games and trying to sell their used copies instead of the new copies they have. If the number of consoles Gamestop gets is tied to the number of games they order, then they won't get many of the available consoles. Pre-orders done at GameStop? No big deal for me at all. I wasn't banking on getting a Wii U until the new year anyway. Lack of cash, you see.
hahahaha oh man, that can be true sometimes. and sometimes not. But seriously, the WiiU looks quite fun to buy when you have kids. especially since that the console looks promising for the couch multiplayer action. Being able to play with the whole family was the real hype factor to me.
no pikmin at launch killed the hype, and no pre-order available destroyed it completly. No N console for me again, i will wait. Don't mind standing in line at a retail store like Target on day one. Worked for the Wii, and there is NO WAY this will be as hyped or as stock constrained as the Wii launch. I won't be surprised if I wait in line and then go back later in the day and see a huge pile still waiting for people to pick it up, either. It's possible Nintendo will be way short for the retail sales, but it's unlikely. Look how long Nintendo waited to announce the launch dates. Nintendo is being VERY careful to have stock at the launch I think. Not sure if waiting in line will be as fun. The Wii had such a wide range of people that were excited about the possibilities. Looking back it really is a shame that third parties couldn't grok the motion controls and relied on waggle so much. Seems like the Gamepad and Asynchronous play are MUCH easier for devs to get a handle on and MAYBE the promise of Wii Motion Plus will be further realized after 5 years and Kinect and PS Move. My theory is that if the Wii U is hugely successful it's for this reason: A much wider group of people bought a game system than in any time in history with that Wii and while the adults may have tired quickly when Wii sports lost its appeal, those people had kids and for many it was their FIRST console. We'll see if Nintendo's gamble paid off, if these kids, five years older can get their parents on board or buy the Wii U themselves. Then, Nintendo Land makes SO much sense as it introduces the whole family to the wider range of Nintendo franchises that have been overlooked.
I get the short on money thing (I'm not sure where mine will come from), but why is pre-order so important? ebgames in canada is almost out of pre-orders too. it says that on their facebook page
so gamestop is not the only one selling out of stock. good thing i pre-order mine on the day of the conference announcing the price and release date. I'm very happy to hear it's selling out !!
I for one am not concerned, wasn't planning on getting Wii U until more great Nintendo games are available for it.
I've got all the 'motes & 'chucks I need, and there are some good games launching along side the Wii U, but not enough for me to shell out the $$ just yet.
Give me one of the following & I'll pick up a Wii U immediately:
Metroid (prime-like), zelda, mario (3d adventure, not NSMB), star fox, mario kart, icarus, super smash.
until then, nintendo land & NSMBU can wait.
I've already got or peordered the 3rd party multi plats on my 360, so not really a reason to buy wii u.
It IS a strong launch line up for those who don't own a 360/ps3, due to great 3rd party support, however, it's not really strong enough for those who own 360/ps3.
Not enough Nintendo greats or Wii U exclusives just yet!
I'm guessing within the year though that the Wii U has some must haves on it, and I'll be taking the plunge.
Congrats Nintendo on another successful console by the looks of the preorders!! why the pre-order ? cause every store i go to, without pre-order, youre stuck with the basic bundle. no premium available if you didnt pre-order. and buying this expansive piece requires you to get as much as you can for what you pay for. hence the premium version. Darn it, my parents should have listened to me Exactly what I thought. Good thing I am going to wait a while before I get it. Got mine! The Deluxe model too. I was at work the day of the conference, but luckilly my roomate had the day off and I had a $75 Gamestop gift card sitting on the coffee table. I texted him as soon as the price and date were announced and he took care of it for me. Solid dude! Now, we wait... This happened less than a week after they started taking pre-orders. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get mine because I'm not sure I'm going to have the money to get the system day one. I really hope this thing isn't going to be as impossible to find as the Wii was for its first two years but it looks that way. This is probably going to end up being one of those purchases where I go to the store and just have to hope it's in stock. Bah,I'm still mad about the EU prices. Wii U ZombiU Bundle (or as I like to call it, teh Zombium Bundle, eheh..) costs about 419 euros around here, which is a friggin' 542 USD!! Wow. That's was really fast. Good thing I pre-ordered mine the day they were open. #19
Kids don't murder our dreams, they just borrow our mortar so they can build dreams even bigger than ours, and we willing give them mortar. After all, we can always make more. I'm getting mine on Christmas , so I don't really have to pre- order it well hopefully they'll be some more stock the holiday season....
Can't wait for the 18th of Nov... I'm going to be pissed if I can't get one for Christmas for my family! Lol I actually cancelled my Wii U pre-order and plan to order it again next week. (Payment problems, don't ask) Good old Australia, we will never reach max pre-orders! Games That Need Wii U Resident Evil 6 Talking Point

Games That Need Wii U - Resident Evil 6 - Talking Point Nintendo Life

A much needed second chance by Share: As great as Nintendo’s first-party efforts are, Wii U is going to have a reliance on its third-party support. Nintendo certainly recognises that and has already drawn franchises like FIFA, Call of Duty, Mass Effect and Assassin’s Creed to its cause. However, as encouraging as that is, it’s still not enough. The format is still missing major third-party games that will surely make or break the system. This feature, and others to follow, will look at some of the games that we feel would be a great fit on Wii U, but have not yet been announced. We’ll even back up our musings with a list of reasons why the experience would be especially unique with the system's GamePad. This week it’s . One of the biggest games this year has already launched, and despite the mixed opinions its importance cannot be understated. Resident Evil is an enormous global franchise that has a healthy, growing fan-base. It’s peculiar that the title hasn't been announced to this point. 3DS has enjoyed the exclusive back in January, and Nintendo’s relationship with Capcom is the best it’s ever been. Surely it’s a matter of time, right? While we wait for the announcement that must surely come, here are a few reasons why Wii U and Resident Evil 6 would make perfect zombie-slaying buddies. Inventory The inventory could be easily navigated with the touch-screen: scroll and tap to combine herbs or select any item while the action happens on screen. This is particularly important as Resident Evil 6 is always operating in real-time, so having a constantly accessible menu on the Wii U Gamepad would be of massive benefit. A few finger-taps to combine herbs won't infringe on the actual gameplay happening on your TV set, and you can still do the same things offered in any other version of the game. Mini-map Another obvious choice. Players could make great use of the map on the GamePad while the action plays out on the TV screen. It’ll be easy to track your position as you’re moving between locations and feel much more natural in a survival horror situation. It would even be great to mark way-points on the map with a simple finger-press. Change of weapon With a flick of the finger you could switch your load-out. This could also be used to help perform a quick-reload, although that’s as easily accomplished with a simple button press. Quick-Time-Events Resident Evil 6 is full of Quick-Time-Events. Some might say that borders on the annoying. However, instead of the usual button presses, the Wii U GamePad enables Capcom to be a bit more creative, and potentially create the tense-dynamic action scenario it's desperately trying to embed into its game. Tapping a particular area of the screen at the right moment, shaking the GamePad using the gyro sensor, even turning the pad away from the TV to ‘face’ your attacker and then using the touch screen to fight back could create some interesting situations. It has to be better than drumming the A button through the bottom of the pad, right? Two Player Co-op Rather than the rather awful looking split-screen, Capcom could take advantage of the game being played completely on the GamePad. Titles such as and are already doing this, so the new controller is capable of streaming graphic-intensive games. This would make local co-op even more entertaining and less of an eye-sore than it is already. Revelations/Resi 6 cross-overs Owners of Revelations could unlock unique items in the Wii U version of Resident Evil 6 both for multiplayer and single player. We know that data-transfer between the handheld and home console will be possible in , so Capcom knows how to do it. Aiming Resident Evil 6 has a much more free-roaming aim mechanic than the stunted, transfixed one in . When in this view, the Wii U GamePad could be used expertly to line up your shots with greater accuracy than an analogue stick could ever provide. Simply move the pad around when in view and then tap a shoulder button to fire. If playing co-operatively, players could even ‘mark’ targets to help out their buddy, making sure they’re not ambushed without realising it. Resident Evil.net Capcom’s vision for Resident Evil.net is lacking something, and that something could be Wii U. If you look at the capabilities of Nintendo TVii players could, hypothetically, play the game and, when at an extremely tense or difficult moment, take and share screenshots with their friends and even add captions. They could also record video, or have a constant tracker telling them how they’re doing on a particular accomplishment (for example how many zombies they’ve killed, how many shots fired) and have all of that be recorded and displayed by the Wii U GamePad in real-time. Effectively, ResidentEvil.net would become part of the Resident Evil 6 experience, interacting with the player as it was originally intended. Potential Wii U Functionality: 8/10 We honestly believe that Resident Evil 6 could be made a whole lot better on Wii U; the hardware can handle the game, and probably better than anything else on the market. The interactivity between ResidentEvil.net would be a lot more meaningful and closer to Capcom’s original vision. We also suspect that a lot of the frustrations people are currently having with the game would be erased thanks to the GamePad’s functionality. It’s difficult to say how Wii U will work with Resident Evil 6’s multiplayer at this time, but with major franchises already confident in the console’s capabilities, it will surely offer benefits for Nintendo's so called "core" gamers. There’s absolutely no reason why this couldn't work. In fact, there’s every possibility it would make for the definitive edition of the game. Are there any other potential features for this game that you think we've missed? Any games you want to see on Wii U that haven’t been announced yet? Have your say below. Share: Comments ) I'd rather they just ported Resident Evil 4 again. "Tapping a particular area of the screen at the right moment, shaking the GamePad using the gyro sensor, even turning the pad away from the TV to ‘face’ your attacker and then using the touch screen to fight back could create some interesting situations." Haven't we learnt from the early days of the DS and Wii that going full-out gimmicky and trying to crowbar in every possible feature just for the sake of wackiness isn't a particularly good idea. All good arguments for RE:6 needing the WiiU, not any reasons for the WiiU needing a game with poor reviews. Though I agree it will happen. Seems like every "big" game that comes out these days needs a 2nd release. OOT, RE:4 and Okami will be re-released on every new system until the end of time. From what I've heard, Resident Evil 6 is no big loss. :/ Honestly, I don't think the addition of some kind-of-neat features in a Resident Evil 6 port would satisfy any fans. The only way for Capcom to really make up with their fans is if they completely recreate Resident Evil 6 such that the game...well, doesn't suck. Don't give em ideas! Lets hope if they do bring it over the things they fix or change are important ones such as, frame rate, tighter controls, better aiming and just make sure its all polished up a bit more. its a bit of a mixed bag on 360 and PS3. So many great ideas here - I think you should send them to Capcom.....they'd be daft not to go with them. Personally, I believe ZombiU will satisfy the Wii U better than anything Resident Evil 6 displayed as a game in itself; a true survival horror experience which makes exceptional native use of the "gimmicky" GamePad features. (Go watch the first E3 gameplay trailer released, now.) RE:6 may need the Wii U to at least present itself better, but the Wii U certainly doesn't need RE:6. Personally though, I don't believe an appearance on the Wii U would give the game any more overall appeal, even with the GamePad. I feel that if Capcom truly wants to continue their fame with the Resident Evil series successfully (which is looking questionable from this side), they'll re-visit their roots with the game. Intensely. True, it's not the expected resident evil... but I've watched one full campaign play through by brad on YouTube. and IMHO,
it's a tribute to greatness, for the long running franchise.
with some room for improvement, that the Wii U could possibly, sceam together mabe?. I expected Zombie U to be the better RE6. With the direction the Wii U is heading, it seems as though multi-platform games once found on both 360 and PS3, now may find a home on the Wii U as well. But what sorts of problems does this pose for the Wii U? Will the games have tacked on GamePad support that don't necessarily benefit the gameplay?
Will the Wii U's family friendly identity shift away from what we've known this past generation? Or does it pose serious problems for the competing 360 and PS3, which although does have features like Smart Glass and Vita connectivity, doesn't offer these out of the box. i know some wouldn't want this game on the wii U given the mixed reviews RE6 has received on the PS3, Xbox so far. but ninja gaiden 3 coming to the wii U is also a PS3, Xbox title with added additions to the game play. so if RE6 came to the wii U and turns out to be a better version of the game, then i'd be up for it. RE6 just got bad reviews in the west, so yes judging from famitsu I would like RE 6 for WiiU as well as Lolipop Chainsaw, RE5, and UMvC3 Honestly, I've been day-dreaming about this since the '11 E3. I also would like to have the opportunity to play RE: 5 without my D-bag homies skipping EVERY cut-scene. You guys ain't missing much with RE6. I really, really hope XCOM gets announced for Wii U eventually. keep dreamin, resident evil 6 won't come to wii u maybe 7 though??? i was going to wait if this was or would or could of been a launch title maybe it never will but given even if it does i wasnt about to wait even longer for it so i got it for my ps3 as i originally intended too in the first place before i knew about the wiiu lol Wii-mote support, give us Wii-mote support. QTEs are worse than waggle. Yet over the last 10 years it seems devs can't come up with anything better. Reviewers need to start speaking out against it. Do I want RE6 on Wii U? No. I'd rent it and maybe change my mind--but from the gameplay videos I've seen I have no interest at this time. I'll stick to Revelations. I have just started playing resident evil games last year and I love them. I hope there would be a RE for Wii U as well Just like how 1 never came to the N64 but 2 did and then they remade it for the GCN Please no...do not re release this game ever, it won't change the themes and concept of this shudders game May I ask what every seems to think is wrong with the RE5 and 6 games?
Yeah, QTEs are pretty brutal to see nowadays. I want to enjoy a good cut-scene without having a spasm-induced heart attack. Back when I first bought RE:4 I thought QTEs were the bees knees though... I wish... I love Resident Evil... I haven't played RE6 but the mixed reviews don't make me interested to pay full price for it. I may pick it up later as I played RE5 a lot with my bro, so we could do the same with this one. The game will most likely go to Wii U, since I have heard it was a very expensive game to make so they will want to recoup losses. It would be great if it supports Wiimote and Nunchuck like RE4. Now Zombii U will take care of the zombie fix all by itself. More power to Ubisoft. For the next installment of this, I would love to have Bioshock Infinite. It seems to me that most of the dislike comes from the fact they are more like action movies than Survival Horror games. Looking at gameplay footage of Resident Evil 6, I wouldn't pick it up on any system- and even if I got it for free I have better games coming out/to replay. The last major console Resident Evil I enjoyed thoroughly was Resident Evil 3... 4 I could stand, 5 I didn't play because of the same reasons I wouldn't play 6. or the fact that its just flat out s*** don't spend titles in this terrible game of Resident Evil 6 ... really prefer to invent zombies nintendo with Mario characters or something... I still can't look at the logo for resident evil 6 without... Well, I can't unsee, anyway. lol im with you there can not be unseen once its been pointed out What Wii U needs is Resi 4, 5 and 6. I don't care about Resident Evil 5 & 6, I rather want a sequel to Resident Evil Revelation instead but this time includes classic zombies. ZombiU is gonna give me that old-school survival-horror vibe more than the new Resi Evils even though it's a FPS and I hope it becomes a successful franchise for Ubisoft I want Capcom to make another Mercenaries game with more stages, enemies from all titles, every character, ability to play as Nemmy and 4 player online would be awesome the last games with jlll valentine and chris redfield as the main characters moved away from the original survival horror-style the series once started with, so yes. i think capcom ought to revisit that. Nintendo your a genius I don't like RE since the 4th entry. And this is the lowest entry ever, i'd rather play Gun Survivor 2 at least that games features only one genre of gaming. I liked Resident Evil 6. I think it's much better than 5 and it certainly doesn't deserve the hate it's receiving. Most of the complaints are about things RE5 did far worse and that game got nothing but high scores. That being said, if you didn't like RE4, you're probably not going to like this one. I'd rather have a Revelations sequel tbh. I'd personally love Resident Evil 6 to be on the Wii U, and even Resident Evil 5. I don't own any platforms that I could play either on (maybe the PC, but I don't like playing games on there). So, a pack that would contain both RE5 AND 6 would be ideal for me! They should release a remake compilation of Resident Evil: Survivor, Survivor 2 - Code: Veronica, and Dead Aim with GamePad aiming. </trollface> You forgot to mention Outbreak 1 & 2 I want to see Skyrim on the Wii U! that would be a spin off rather then part of the main storyline which revelation is This article's title should be reworded to say "Games that the Wii U needs." Anyone who's listening to what the reviewers are saying, don't. This is an excellent game.
Other games that the Wii U need are Borderlands 2, SSF4:AE, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance & Grid 2, just to name a few. Another feature should be to change Chris's hair I'd like to see them use the gamepad for reading the diaries and stuff that you normally find, maybe allowing the characters to move while reading Umbrella trivia. I think QTEs would go well on the gamepad but only if they are context specific i.e. use the accelerometer to dodge something, quickly enter a code on a keypad, fix a lock to keep nemesis out, maybe even typing out your save game on typewriter. I hope they don't just make RE6 for Wii U with a couple of tacked on features. I want to see RE Zero to Code Veronica replayed, with the newer over the shoulder gameplay mechanics, all as one game. I still think it could be scary. It wouldn't be too hard to make a decent action survival horror out Umbrella's clean up missions following the original incidents. Really loved reading all your comments on this. Thanks for sharing How about a Resident Evil HD Trilogy pack, with RE4, RE5, and RE6? I would totally be in!! Games That Need Wii U Dishonored Talking Point

Games That Need Wii U - Dishonored - Talking Point Nintendo Life

Choose how you play by Share: Wii U owners will know what it means to be an assassin after Ubisoft introduces us to Connor in later this year. However, while this native American is more adept with Tomahawks and muskets, Arkane Studios has other plans. Doing his work in a Steampunk inspired Victorian London, this particular assassin wears a mask and dual wields weapons for added protection. Currently earning rave reviews for its bold narrative and unique set pieces, seems to be doing just fine for itself. Yet, we think it could be doing better, and want to share our reasons and explain why Dishonored definitely needs Wii U. Last time we talked about the importance of an established, world-renowned IP and its place on Wii U with . However, for Nintendo to truly establish Wii U as a console for the long-term, it needs to be open to exciting ideas that are just getting their start. Dishonored is a perfect fit. Here are a few reasons why Arkane Studio’s latest — published by Bethesda — would reap the benefits of the youngest member in the Nintendo family. Benefits of Stealth Dishonored is a game that offers various styles of play, and one of its core components is stealth. While there’s nothing wrong with the way this is represented on other formats, Wii U could potentially take things a little further. When cloaked in shadow, it’s not always easy to tell when a player is in the enemy’s line of sight; the levels of cover in Dishonored can be misleading. With the Wii U GamePad in hand, a level of shading could be represented on an area of the pad. If an enemy knows the player is there, the shading would be non-existent and the area completely white, whereas if the player is completely camouflaged, the area would be shrouded in darkness. The gamepad could even offer an Assassin’s Creed/Eagle Vision-style mechanic where the hidden player can see the silhouettes of their would-be attackers, helping them plan their next moves. It’s a small, simple addition, but one that could make use of the extra screen rather than cluttering up the TV. It would also offer further strategic benefits to the game. Game Management Naturally, the game’s objectives, notes, powers, bone charms and inventory would be readily available via the GamePad. One of the clunkiest elements in any game is how the inventory takes up the whole screen, interrupting the experience. While it can create tactical and considered advantages, with Wii U the extra screen will make Dishonored all the more natural, free-flowing and dynamic. The GamePad would become a one-stop shop for players to read the game’s notes, books and listen to the audiographs while playing; this would also make it easier to spend points, re-adjust bone-charms on the fly and adjust powers and equipped weapons/ammunition. Also, with the map available, a simple finger press could help set up markers, a welcome and appropriate fit in getting around the vast open spaces of Dunwall. Hunting for Bone Charms and Runes In Dishonored, players will find Bone Charms and Runes scattered throughout the world. These are uncovered by using a beating heart from the inventory, as the vibration of the pad is used creatively to show a player’s proximity to the item. However, the markers sometimes make it difficult to work out where the items are. With the Wii U GamePad players could not only use the heart’s vibration to work out where rune or charms are located, but they could also point the pad at the screen to ‘see through walls’ and even look around to see if an item is above or below them. This would help give a clearer picture of where it is on the map. Also, a player could use Miiverse to help set notes for friends and others around the world, offering clues as to how to get the rune/bone charms. Combat The main character, Corvo, dual wields weapons in Dishonored. In his left hand he usually carries a crossbow or gun, but in his right he has a sword. Even though Corvo likes to strike from the shadows, sometimes he will have to go face to face with his enemies. While the action of a gun is easily replicated with the tap of a shoulder button, the freedom of a sword is never truly realised. With the Wii U Gamepad, players can swipe and slash the screen (think Fruit Ninja) to help give a new-found freedom to their attacks, which could make sword-fights a lot more intense and real. Also, when in a stalemate, it will make the opportunity for counter-attacks a lot easier and more refined. Assassination Targets Finally, further advantages of Miiverse will create an in-house social networking hub for players to discuss the ways they’ve approached tackling a target. Dishonored is very unique in that it allows players various ways to meet their objectives; sometimes, players can completely change the dynamic of the main storyline by performing optional quests. This allows players to share ‘their stories’, perhaps even produce brag-clips of a kill which they can upload and share with their friends, or a screenshot of a particularly bizarre act that defined their personal journey. The opportunities to make cool content with Miiverse are endless. Potential Wii U Functionality 8/10 Dishonored is a game that definitely needs to happen on Wii U. Not only is this a sure-fire Game of the Year winner, its arrival would benefit both format and franchise in equal measure. The potential of Miiverse in this game alone presents some amazing possibilities, but with the use of a second screen to support the action Dishonored can be more dynamic than ever. Whether all of these ideas would work would be down to the skill of the developers and other practicalities, but Dishonored would still be an important and essential part of the Wii U library. This is going to happen, right Bethesda? Are there any other potential features for this game that you think we've missed? Any games you want to see on Wii U that haven’t been announced yet? Have your say below. Share: Comments ) I played it at friend's house, the menu and item switch could use the WiiU game pad, and the game is Breathtakingly awesome, it's one of the best FPS's i've ever played How do Wii-U owners know how to be an Assassin already? We never got an Assassins Creed game before. Maybe Wii owners are already assassins We've amended that intro so there's no confusion These articles are making me worried about the Wii U now. So much forced, contrived gimmicky-ness and wackiness... It's as if we've learnt nothing from the early days of the DS and Wii... I agree with this article. I'm playing it on my 360 right now and would love to have the menus easier to access. would be great, but what are the odds? Played this for about an hour on the Xbox 360 and thought to myself, "what a shock, another first person shooter for the Xbox." The stealth aspect, which many people are talking about, was done much better in the Thief series. I really hope that the WiiU doesn't end up being another "FPS of the Week" console like the Xbox. I like the prospects of Dishonored on the Wii U in this feature much better than the last RE:6 article; it seems more natural, and less gimmicky. Although, I find the touchscreen sword controls mentioned to be very... out of context, and I believe the whole inventory convenience to be overplayed - the GamePad deserves much more innovation than the obvious. I do love the integration of Miiverse in minor ways though, it really outlines the potential for it as a true gamers' network. A Dishonored sequel on the Wii U would definitely be a welcome possibility, I'd just like to see more proficient utilisation of the GamePad expanding on this. Meh this game I could take or leave it, but that RE6 one....YES!! Haha Thomas I was messin with you guys and really didnt give a hoot. But I love your website you guys do a great job! My fault on the intro. Sorry I understand what some of you are saying about the combat. That was a real hit/miss feature, but I do feel touch offers more freedom than an analog ever will. That's a core feature of the Wii U gamepad that seperates it from any other home console. At least, at this moment in time. The concept may seem gimmicky, but similar mechanics control most mobile games these days. Thanks for reading and contributing. Looking forward to reading more of your comments. Have a real surprise in store for the next one. Stay tuned to nintendolife The game never looked that impressive. seemed more special ability based rather than any real skill All I really want on Wii U is Portal 2 & Bioshock Infinite! With Wiimote Plus support, using a touchscreen to simulate slashes feels kinda backwards. I am really eager to see how Nintendo will handle the Wii U Zelda game. I will check the reviews for this game, since I am not huge into FPS games. I agree with that developers should watch out with what they're doing with the gamepad, I don't want to be forced to do things that are plain easy with buttons. Demolishing great games by adding Fruit Ninja?! BAD!!
This is an FPS, so the moment your thmbs leave the conrol sticks you can either not move or not change de camera direction.
But why do you think that gamepad can only be on your lap? You can't move your arms up?
Checking your gamepad can be as easy as checking your DS screen.. Though Dishonored is rated M (Mom says no) or (Me no play Mature Games) but that sounds neat, what you said about combat, I'm hoping Retro Studios does that does for their future Zelda Game.
"The concept may seem gimmicky, but similar mechanics control most mobile games these days."
Think about what you just said and why you think it's a good idea. Then realise that you are wrong and change your mind. By the way, Dishonored in no way needs Wii U, it's the other way around. Frankly I find the title of this feature somewhat insulting to a game so wonderful on traditional consoles. You got away with RE6 because it's a mixed bag that Wii U doesn't need.
Bah, I dunno. Just rubs me the wrong way. Dont we really mean Games the Wii U needs? In need of Wii U!? LOL more like Wii U is in need of it.

Exactly. I like your enthusiasm, but Harvey Smith has basically said it isn't going to happen. He said something along the lines that they're not really interested in input devices (i.e. the wii u gamepad), that they spend a lot of time iterating on in-game systems and I don't think they can be bothered committing development time to maximising the gamepad's functionality.. He also said something vague like "We know our audience on the Xbox 360 and PS3"...which gave me the impression that they're not convinced there'd be enough Wii U owners interested in the title. It's an amazing game, but unless there's a Dark Souls style petition to get the game on Wii U, I can't see it happening. Despite the fact I don't think it would be awfully hard to simply map the UI to the gamepad, so that you could select powers and such on the fly and read notes while keeping the game running on the screen. Considering how perfectly functional the game is on consoles, I don't see the added benefits too much. Plus, I don't exactly see large amounts of people wanting this game on Wii U; most of the people that want it already have it or plan on getting it on 360, PS3 or PC. In terms of the feature title, please bear in mind that Ray says the game's doing fine as it is. The focus is on how Wii U can potentially, through capabilites that are unique at this stage, enhance games. Not all suggestions will work for everyone, but it's to raise possibilities. Wii U will have a period where it gives developers new control options and tools to work with, and I think that's what Ray is looking at. Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
That's fair enough, but I think the games being developed from the ground up with Wii U gamepad functionality at the core, are obviously going to be the games that do it best (e.g. The Wonderful 101 looking really good) I think when you try to shoehorn gamepad functionality into a game not designed for its use, you run the risk of altering the gameplay experience for the worse by interfering with the game design. On an unrelated note, has anyone seen the indie game 'Spy Party'??? It's an asymmetrical multiplayer game currently in development for PC that might be coming to the Wii U. It looks fantastic and it would be fascinating to see how the developer could utilize the gamepad.. I think the title should instead read: The Game that Wii U Needs - Dishonored I'd rather not see the Wii U overrun with these boring, dreary, colorless dime-a-dozen FPS games that only appeal to 12-year-olds.

I'll have you know thjs game has one of the best atmospheres in a game EVER. This isn't one of those CoD tangents flooding the industry. This is like the new Bioshock.
And cash money says you've never played it and have no idea what you're talking about. Based on screen shots its not too hard to figure out, you can indeed learn a lot just based on looks
That's a terrible way to judge games. Given that method I would have never touched 99% of what Nintendo puts out. different opinions then, because that's why I buy Nintendo stuff, all these COD and Bethesda stuff look way too weird for my tastes
Please go into detail about what makes CoD or Bethesda games "weird". It's the first time for me hearing that. Well not weird the way most of you would probably put it, but growing up a certain way (colorful graphics, animal like characters that talk, creatures that arnt based on real life, basicly anything anime/Disney related) is normal for me... Everything else is just "weird" tingle = normal for me
So what you're saying is that things that tend to stick to the realistic side are weird to you? Well, ok. Doesn't exactly render you able to base critical thoughts on screenshots now does it? Anyways, I hope they just port the game, I don't nees forced gimmicks. Just give me the exact same, and wonderful, experience on other consoles thxkbye. I'm with , these articles should be called "Games that Wii U needs" instead. Yeah, but the same can be said when it comes to people not wanting to play the "weird" Japanese games, which I think are more realistic for a video game then these ones
Dishonored is pretty much the 'exact' opposite of what you said. It's not really an fps either. You wield a gun in one hand and a sword in the other, but you also have a whole bunch of magical powers. You can complete the game without killing a single enemy. It has large open levels, and the world changes depending on your actions. You have multiple ways of completing objectives. It's at the opposite end of the spectrum from a Call of Duty game. Well this runs on Unreal 3, not the same engine Skyrim uses. All these FPS hatred comments are stupid really. I could do this with any game.
Mario - 'oh another platformer, so I wont play it'
Forza - 'oh another racer, so I wont play it'
Zelda - 'oh another action adventure game, so I wont play it'
Xenogears - 'oh another RPG, so I wont play it' How some of you people base your opinions on games is unreal. And this is why you miss so many good games. But if you prefer to be blind gamer then that's fine Come on now, let's not make it personal here — we can't force everyone to eat their broccoli along with their dessert, after all. People will play what they like, and that's fine :3 Next needs to be Hitman: Absolution. Not likely, but in that game you have to pause to get a disguise or weapon, look at your map, etc. and that'd be so much more realistic if done with the gamepad. Plus the sniping possibilities - raise the gamepad and it becomes your scope. Really don't want to miss that game and it seems like Wii U could add a lot of features. edited Do a search for "Dishonored Wii U", and you'll see that this won't be happening. Any game with weapons and equipment as large as Dishonoured would benefit from the WiiU. I love what they did with Zombie U. It just seems natural on the game pad when selecting things. It doesn't have to be fancy in anyway, just convenient for the gamer. Boarder Lands is another good example, Splinter Cell, BioShock....
Yes. GameStop Kids Store Launches 80 More Planned

GameStop Kids Store Launches, 80 More Planned Nintendo Life

Mario and Pokémon plushes a-hoy! by Share: Are you tired of going into a video game store and seeing M-rated games covering the shelves, with rows and rows of box covers full of guns and snarling faces? Help is at hand, if you live in the U.S. near Grapevine Mills Mall in TX, as there's a new GameStop Kids store in town. The first of a new range of 80 stores to open by 15th November, these outlets will be packed full of games rated for everyone, as well as an undoubtedly dizzying range of accessories, plushes and cute things. It's an interesting idea, and clearly the bosses at GameStop see an opportunity and market to make a lot of money, otherwise they wouldn't do it. It'll undoubtedly be on Nintendo's radar, too, as whether we like it or not a major part of the big N's image and focus is on younger gamers. We do get mature content on Nintendo systems, but plenty of our games are designed with everyone in mind, be they kids or big kids. If these GameStop Kids stores don't have a significant variety of Mario and Pokémon themed toys — plus various others — alongside their respective games, then we'll be amazed. Still, you don't need to be a child to go into one of these stores — though maybe take one with you to avoid embarrassment — as even a quick browse of the will show you delights including an Assassin's Creed Plush: bringing the cute to mature games near you. I'm a 23 year old male and would probably be in ther emore then the regular store. Can't get any better then Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong in my opinion If I was a kid when this happened, I think I would have fainted due to excitement...since I was plush fanatic when I was a kid. I might spend more time in there due to collectibles... Oh wow that assasins creed doll's head is huge. Creepy. That Tardis mug on the other hand.... Want! Great store for parents that don't want to glare at M-rated box arts.
Also, great for collectors. All those plushies.
But at the same time, I don't like them video games sound "Kiddy". I have to agree with some of you, I'd love to have something similar in the UK. If that makes me a big kid, then so be it
Yeah those too...if my wife isn't paying attention to what I'm doing anyway. i'd love that here in canada. i love plushies. Interesting.. Too bad there's not going to be one where I live! I took a quick look at the site, man do they have alot. Also, is that a kirby plush in the picture? I'm scared that ignorant "gamers" that think you need blood, guns, and curses to have a what they call a "real game" will take this as an excuse to prove themselves right that Nintendo games are for babies and little kids. But I still think this is a unique idea. It'll help keep them little ones from wanting to buy Call of Duty or Assassins Creed at the age of 6 which is downright rediculous. Yeah, I agree with him. I hope people won't use this to judge the good Nintendo E rated games, but it will at least help keep kids away from stuff they shouldn't be playing. Probably will still have the same kind of crooked employees that all Gamestops have. DOCTOR WHO TARDIS MUG!!!!! Bosses at GameSpot? You mean Stop? lol It seems like a good idea. Let's see if it works. I think that Gamestop is quite concerned about the rise of digital distribution. Most consumers of Mature games are tech savvy enough to make the transition sooner or later. I think that Gamestop is forecasting an ever dwindling number of Mature gaming customers in its retail stores. However, non gamer parents and grandparents may be very clueless and apprehensive about the concept of buying games/gifts digitally. I see this as less of a secondary avenue for Gamestop, but more of an actual re-branding of the entire store. As a 28 year old video game collector and father of an 8 year old...I approve. Big thumbs up for this move. I love the idea of wandering down an Ilse without all of the gnarly and gruff things going on all over. A decent concept that helps to keep kids from that sort of thing is awesome in my book. And collectibles are a big plus on the side. I want some Pikmin plushies when Pikmin 3 comes out.
you know it lol good work Gamestop, I would definitely check this out if it came to the malls in my area. "It's an interesting idea, and clearly the bosses at GameSpot..." GameSpot? Don't you mean GameStop? Anyway, this is a somewhat intresting idea, and it has got me curious. I still don't understand why we need both a regular store and a kids store, though. This isn't like how it is with Toys 'R Us and Kids 'R Us, IMO. It's an interesting idea, and I'm surprised that there is apparently enough demand to make this viable. Particularly so since it sounds as if new stores are being opened, rather than existing Gamestop stores being rebranded - GS must expect that the additional revenue will be worth the cost of rent, employees, utilities etc. I'll be interested to see how it goes. Wow, I live just about half an hour from there. This is awesome! It should've been done years ago! I would probably be more tempted to go in there simply because I despise games that offer violence for the sake of it. I might like some mature-rated games... I can't wait to get my hands on ZombiU, but still 95% of my gaming collection is made up of games that are more 'child-friendly'. Yeah bro I live pretty close as well. I'll definitely check it out without shame! No, that sounds horrible! Gamestop Kids, rename it "Gamestop for Gamers with Real Taste in Games" Texas is the last place in the country that is afraid of exposing guns to kids, instead they teach their kids how to use guns properly. At any rate while I am an adamant fan of plushies, I find high quality ones designed and/or made outside of Japan few and far in between. Still, a store with video game merchandise instead of just games wall to wall is welcome and rare. I absolutely have no problem with Nintendo having games and systems targeted at kids, my issue is if their systems and games are designed for kids to the extent they hinder the freedom and enjoyment of adults. I'm worried that may be right about certain gamers using this as an excuse to bash Nintendo so I'm not sure if I'd want this in the UK but I like the sound of game stores that sell plushies and other collectibles. I'm 26 and I would pick these stores over the original. Especially for plushies. So a Gamestop almost completely dedicated to Nintendo? Nice... i hope i get one where i live. i live in the only freaking town in the us that doesn't have a gamestop!! but noooo all we need is about 30 pizza places. "Are you tired of going into a video game store and seeing M-rated games covering the shelves, with rows and rows of box covers full of guns and snarling faces?"
Yes, yes I am. I have never been interested in M-Rated games, so this may be right up my alley. Sounds like Gamestop 'Ninty' to me. I would go in here for the plushies and such. Its nice they're trying to appeal to a larger audience, Gamestop has always been kind of geared towards young adults. gritty space marines need not apply Finally, a place where I can collect some non game, but still game related, merchandise. I approve of this idea! Looks very cool.
I hope this idea works! Just checked out the site, none near where I live but One near where I'm going on vacation next month.
Excited to check it out! I do indeedily live reasonably close to Grapevine Mills, though I've never been there. I wouldn't need this store personally, since I can get my adorably sweet Paper Mario goodness anywhere, but it's nice for its target audience. I feel like the mothers would look at me with alarm if I was in a Kids store. I don't have any, you see. I bet they'll sell Call of Duty there.
I mean, more kids play that than anything else. I think this is kind of pointless since regular Gamestops already sell games ok for kids. The plushies sound nice, though. Might check this out, one's opening in the mall right by me. Though they already have a normal GameStop in there, so I wonder if that's replacing it. There was actually a store listed at a mall I was just at with my wife here in south florida... I'll definitely keep a look out for the store... I would totally shop here. Most M rated games these days are boring anyways imo because they focus to much on realism and shoot shoot shoot, kill kill kill, run run run, take cover formula waaay to much. I'll take fantasy, creative, fun games any day. Man I'm still a big kid! This is fantastic. I'll go for the plushies alone! E10+, T and M rated games are rated for violence and such, not difficulty. So now there's a Game Stop for children along side the one for adult children? This seems unnecessary. Man, why couldn't they have done this a few months ago when I was actually able to visit GMM? >:C
lol I guess that's all of us here I'm definitely a toy'r'us kid! Woho!! A place to get Some video game plushies and collectibles! I wonder if we'll see a GameStop Adults store featuring nothing but Adults Only games. Of course, that store would be the size of a mall vendor cart. That's cool! I would totally shop at one too...if there was actually one for miles from where I live. There aren't any in Mississippi, Alabama, nor Tennessee Seems cool. XD wrote: Sounds like Gamestop 'Ninty' to me. I would go in here for the plushies and such. Its nice they're trying to appeal to a larger audience, Gamestop has always been kind of geared towards young adults. Well, don't forget. Leapfrog, etc. Kid's have there own part of the gaming industry, Nintendo just happens to be closer to the center of the gaming industry. The advantage is they can put the learning tablets and gaming handhelds that are normally carried at walmart and toys r us. Can be carried there without offending their usual customers. Normally I hate seeing things kidified, but its not a bad idea. Non nearby me but maybe thats a good thing since I like plushies as much as the next guy but I'm a sucker for figurines. I imagine they'll have just as many older customers as the younger ones. I'm all for new plushies! It's kinda cool considering I live so close to Grapevine Mills Mall. I still don't like Gamestop though lol. Cool. If Hawaii gets one I'll just be there for plushie That would have to go up to T. coughSSBcough the demographic results of the customers going in there is going to be very VERY interesting No way that's only 20 minutes away from my house!!!!!!! Wow, a lot of North Texas peeps on this site! I would definitely go in one of these, I don't like a lot of M games anyway. Though I have to question selling toys for stuff that isn't really kids genre- Big Bang Theory? Assassin's Creed plush? Arkham Asylum figures? I know kids are generally interested in M game related stuff, but I feel like that's somehow breaking the kids-only since those games/shows aren't for them.
I need more Pokemon plushes!! I guess not necessary but I have a feeling I would be in that store more than regular Gamestop. They have collectible goodies plus most games I plat are rated E-T. It's pretty sad that there needs to be a seperate store. I remember when the majority of video games were designed for kids/everyone. It was back when platformers ruled the roost and we didn't need gore to sell a game.
sigh I miss those days...
